I just want to say two things:
1. FINALLY, thank you Lissa for finally getting a review of this fine film on the site. It has been unrepresented for way too long. While as a libertarian (lowercase L on purpose) I disagree with most of the politics actually involved, I MORE than agree with the underlying message that politics is all about people, and in my opinion (and the opinion of the filmmakers obviously) the people that SHOULD be at the top are the people that really CARE... not the kind of people that generally end up getting there.
2. I appreciate the fact that your review was light and touched on the general idea of the movie, rather than getting too involved in the specific plotlines of the film (i.e. the foreign bombing, the re-election talk, etc.). You COULD have mentioned the final speech at the end which always gives me chills up my spine, but it is YOUR review, not mine.
Just as a P.S., this film is my second favorite film of all time. My first? The Princess Bride, ALSO directed by Rob Reiner. My third? Kung Pow... umm.... NOT directed by him.
