As any comic fan knows, Tony "Accessorize" Stark has more outfits than a spoiled rich girl with a platinum card and neglectful parents. Over the years he's gone through tons of different armors, some worn for years, others for a single mission. And as everyone knows, there's nothing movie execs like more than money, and different armors = more action figures = toy licensing deals. So it's pretty much a guarantee that when the IM sequel comes along, we'll be seeing some new gear for ol' Shellhead. But of the zillion suits of armor he's worn, which would you like to see on the big screen? As PoolMan loves to point out, I am a giant nerd with far too many action figures, but this once I'll use them for the forces of good, as illustrative devices:
The Original (1963-1965) - created by Stark in the jungles of Vietnam to aid his escape from captivity, this armor is the most primitive, cumbersome, and just plain ugly of them all. Still, points for retro flair. The chest panel also functions as a pacemaker to keep Tony's injured heart beating. Already showcased (in even bulkier form) in the first IM movie.
The Classic (1965-1985) - Iron Man's most famous, longest lasting, and all-around coolest armor, this one was worn with only minor changes for the better part of two decades. What more needs to be said? It's the best.
Silver Centurion (1985-1988) - The first major redesign after the classic, this one helps the Armored Avenger... uh, blend in at Christmas better. And space, I think maybe it could go into space or something.
War Machine (1992-1993) - First created for Stark himself but most famous for later being worn by Jim Rhodes, the War Machine armor comes with enhanced weapons systems and looks 43% more badass than standard Iron Man technology. And it goes down soooo smooth.
Modular Armor (1993-1996) - One of my personal favorites, this armor ditched the concept of one cohesive suit in favor of modular components that could be swapped in and out as individual missions called for them. In theory, anyway... mostly Tony just used the base model, seen here.
Crappy Lame-Ass Armor (2002-2005) - Sorry, am I projecting again? This armor has fans, but to me Iron Man should look like a guy in a suit of armor; this one makes him look like an actual robot. And that codpiece is downright disturbing. Fail.
Extremis (2005-present) - The armor currently worn in the comics, as well as that used in the film. Well, odds are it'll at least be in part of the sequel before Tony swaps it out for something newer.
Special bonus section! - armors created for special occasions, like funerals and brises:
Hulkbuster Armor - A ginormous suit specially designed by Tony to... uh, bust the Hulk. As you might have guessed.
Thorbuster Armor - Stark salvaged the remains of the Destroyer, an ancient Asgardian weapon of destruction, and used it to create an armor that could absorb and redirect energy. Then he used it to... you guessed it, beat on Thor. Er, except Thor ended up destroying it. Magic beats science, chump!
Iron Spider - When Stark briefly took on Spider-Man as his protege, he created this suit of armor for Peter, which was highly durable, had a set of 3 spidery-looking mechanical legs, and could morph to look like any of Spidey's previous costumes on command. But then Peter turned on Tony and the suit got trashed. C'est la vie.
Iron Lad - I won't even try to explain it fully (don't think I could), but basically: an Avengers villain from the future with high-tech armor went back in time to help his younger self, but the kid freaked out at meeting his evil future self, stole his armor, and travelled back with it to the 21st century. Then he made the armor resemble Iron Man's, even though it's actually far more advanced. Eat that, rich boy!

And there you have it... just a few of Iron Man's many armors, as cast in action figure form. So the question I pose to you all is this: which (if any) would you like to see crop up in the Iron Man sequel, either exactly as shown or in slightly modified form?
