That is so true, and sad. I've only discovered him a couple of months ago, but I managed to get and watch all of his HBO specials... several times, I play them in the background while I work ; I take a lot of pleasure from doing my Al Sleet impersonation for my friends. Carlin was a great guy and we're lucky that he had such a prolific career and so many shows that we can always re-watch.

Carlin was a genius. I may not have agreed with him on every single issue, but man, he was one funny, funny guy. Anyone who can make you think and make you laugh at the same time is worth his weight in gold. He will be missed.

This pretty much killed my day...he was (and is, and probably always will be) my fave comedian.
I could recite entire monologues of his from memory...and what I loved most about him was not just that he was absolutely hilarious, but that he had the cojones to say what everyone was thinking and have no shame in doing so.
Fare thee well, George. May Joe Pesci hold you in his care.

I love this guy so much, and I was so shocked when I saw on yahoo.com that he had passed away. George Carlin is the greatest stand up of all time, and for sure 39823409875 times better than Dane Cook. He'll be missed.
