Okay, if you don't laugh at this, I don't know what's wrong with you. Especially when Nathan Fillion comes on. Oh. My. God. As all good Joss-loving Mutants know, today is the first day of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, (warn a little for language) starring Neil Patric Harris and Nathan Fillion. I wasn't sure WHERE to put this thread, so I decided to just slap it here. Watch, laugh your butt off, and discuss!

Brilliant... I almost feel like it's a waste that this great material is being used in this form. I want to see a feature-length Dr. Horrible musical!

It was great! I'd love to see more!!
On a side note: Joss sure hates to leave his couples happy, doesn't he?

Just suffered through reading this... will somebody kindly point me in the direction of the "Misery is..." thread? I won't get into too many specifics, as I will end up working myself into a tizzy (which will cause me to beat and rape women, apparently), but this is absolute one-sided garbage by a woman who clearly formed her opinion and then watched the series to support it instead of doing it the other way around (also known as "the logical way"). And, for the record, Gina Torres is Cuban. Do your homework if you're going to opine in public.

Oh, good God. This was the most ridiculous, hateful thing I've read in a long time. The only point I MIGHT agree with is the happy hooker thing.
Wash rapes Zoe? Please. What part of, "Sir, I need this man to tear my clothes off right now," sounds remotely non-consensual? Zoe calling Mal "sir" is demeaning? Take it up with the military, girl. Mal teasing Kaylee about her chatter is sexist? He says a heck of a lot worse to Jayne.
And saying that Whedon rapes his wife is absolute slander. There is no reason I know of (especially in his work) to come to that conclusion.
I'd say more, but I also ought to sleep tonight. If I can get over being amazed and offended.

I finally watched all of Dr. Horrible last night.
And then I watched it 3 more times. I was up til 4.
That was fantastic. I loved the songs, especially the duet at the start of Act II and Dr. Horrible's first song. Fillion was funnier than I ever knew he could be - I think he might have been pitching his voice just a tad deeper throughout to get that extra-smarmy vibe. I loved all the tiny details throughout, like Billy at the soup kitchen and Bad Horse's messengers.
The finale's tone took me a bit by surprise at first, though we do know Joss seems to hate a happy couple. But the more I think about it, the more it works. It wipes out the last bit of humanity in Billy and allows him to become the evil man he wants to be. Captain Hammer survives to be his arch-nemesis. And I've read criticism that Felicia Day's character is too sweet and fluffy for her to be real, but I'd disagree. I think it's pretty clear when you really listen to what she sings that she's damaged deep down. Just because she doesn't have superhuman strength doesn't make her less of a character - look at Willow or Kaylee.
I really want to see more of the Evil League of Evil. Dead Bowie? Fake Thomas Jefferson? And Bad Horse is actually a horse, the Thoroughbred of Sin? More, please!
As for that essay on Firefly, I read it a few months back and got so angry I couldn't believe it. Thank goodness Joss was able to take time away from his busy schedule of raping his wife to make Dr. Horrible, eh? No to mention that for a so-called feminist, saying that his wife only stays with him for the money despite being raped constantly is astonishing.
