Kinda sorta. The teaser trailer for Terminator: Salvation[/url] is up, and oddly enough, I haven't heard much about this sequel (then again, I haven't gone digging either). I gotta say, though, that this looks like it could be really good, and if Bale has the same success that he had with Batman, we're in for a real treat. What do you think...was it a good or bad idea to revisit the "Terminator" franchise and do you think it's gonna suck?

The Future War was always 'meh' for me. I'm personally happy with just the tastes we got in T2 and Rise of the Machines, but there's also a pretty rabid contingent out there who want more, so I guess I understand it.
The best idea they could have had was to recenter the franchise on John Connor. The films have always been *about* him, of course, but he was never the one on the poster. The machines have always taken center stage. Now, of course, Arnie's too old and too political, and Robert Patrick and Kristina Lokken were good for one story apiece but I really can't see them taking up the reins. If the series is going to continue, it's got to become about the people.
I also think Christian Bale is the right choice for the lead. Some forum opinions nonwithstanding, he is white hot right now and--assuming he doesn't go to jail for assault--will be able to pack a theater in a way that Nick Stahl simply can't (although I liked Stahl, too).
Then there's the director. McG. Really? This was the best they could do? Did you they not see what happens when you give him a special effects budget? Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, that's what happens! And nobody wants that. Nobody.
