WHOOOOOO!!!!!! OH man. I'm so excited. To be able to see these clearly, on a real television and for more than ten minutes at a time (stupid Youtube) is bliss. I don't know who it was that introduced me to this show, but I'll always be thankful. Everyone I've showed it to has loved it, and I've seen every episode at least three times since one of you Mutants first mentioned it in these forums back in February or January.
Watching the first episode now. WHOOOOOO!

I'm going to buy it in a day or two, as soon as I have a day off to fully absorb myself in Pegg-Wright-Hynes goodness. I watched it all on Youtube too and can't wait to see it with a decent picture.

Oh you're gonna love it!! The Menus are really well done and there's plenty of stuff packed in every disc. It's a three disc set: Series One, Series Two, and bonus disc full of extras. Just so you know, you access the Homage-O-Meter by starting the episode you want, hitting the Subtitles button on your remote, then choosing the 2nd English option. Every time a reference is made a subtitle will pop up telling you what it references, what type it is (TV, Music...) and what year it's from. I had to look that up online, 'cause it isn't made obvious on the DVD.
EDIT: So I was a little lazy and pressed for time before. Among MANY other reasons to get this DVD, I should mention that there is a brilliant set of bios, which includes cast, crew, and character bios. Trailers, commentary (original UK commentary as well as Kevin Smith and others). Really....it's too good for any Spaced fan to pass up. I WISH I would have gone to Comic Con to see these guys this year. I'm so STUPID!

Finally bought it, have watched it all the way through already. Thanks for the tip on the Homage-o-meter, because I was having trouble finding it. For those who have yet to be convinced of the genius of this show, here are a few quotes from the box:
"Watching Spaced is kind of like watching a Kevin Smith film if Kevin Smith had any real talent." - Kevin Smith
"I laughed hard and I hate comedy." - Judd Apatow
The only thing I wonder is why the celeb commentaries. What, Quentin Tarantino and Diablo Cody are going to chat about how funny it is? I know that already, that's why I bought the damn thing.

I know. I didn't understand that, either. Maybe they thought the American audience wouldn't want to watch the British commentary? That would be idiotic, seeing as it's a British show! Then again no one every accuses these big corporations of being intelligent. Glad I could help with the hint. I was going nuts 'til I found the instructions on some site. Said site also insists there's an easter egg. Something to do with a red button on Daisy's diary. I have no idea what they're talking about. Then again, I haven't really looked for it.

This show is freaking awesome! I didn't buy it, but my wife and I did check it out from the library and watch it over the past week.
While I obviously loved the humor and all the cult references, I must say that my favorite aspect of the show was the relationship between Tim and Mike.
Mike reminds me so much of my best friend (who I used to affectionately call "Judo Joseph" until he made me stop). He's really into guns and martial arts, he loves to provide "much needed security", he's constantly looking for a chance to bust a cap in somebody, and he's a member of the National Guard (which I'm guessing is similar to the British Territorial Army).

A: I want to steal you friend JJ, just for the novelty value. B: Where on earth do you get such a ridiculously awesome library?

If you like Spaced, try Black Books.
FYI: the Territorial Army (TA), is basically a subsection of the regular army where civilians go and do army manuevers etc on weekends.
They are called up in times of war to defend the UK.

Thanks for the recommendation, DTH. I'll check Netflix and if I can't find it there, I'll let my wife loose on e-bay. That woman can find anything.
Heather (I'm trying to break myself of calling you Cat), I do indeed live in a county that has the coolest library system around.
Our two local branches have a collection of about 400 dvd's, and, thank God, they're not all educational. One of the librarians even asks my wife and I for recommendations on what to get.
They try to get most new releases and they have a good collection of tv box sets, including Lost, Deadwood, Dr. Who, and Firefly. The acquistions guy must be a Simon Pegg fan, because they have Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and now, Spaced. Still waiting for Run Fat Boy, Run.
As for Judo Joseph, he is unfortunately out in the field for six months. He left this morning at 5 am, in fact. I guess I'll have to play video games by myself for a while.

Thanks for the recommendation, DTH.} DITTO! I watched some of the outtakes (which is all I can find on Youtube). Looks really funny. That's fine. I've had that moniker for so long that it feels weird to be called "Heather" on here. Whichever, though. My personal preference was always "BaccaWacca". Your library, by the way, is the coolest. Ever. Makes me want to go check out my local one again. I haven't been in a few months, since I mostly pick up my reading material from thrift stores lately. I used to find some pretty decent picks at my library, including some Miyazaki films. I still have book-envy for yours, though. [I guess I'll have to play video games by myself for a while. You'll just have to rope your wife into playing with you!
