Too true. The theater I saw it in, there was a light goofy mood in the crowd. People were laughing and whispering (in non-irritating ways), there was this one guy who was just dancing away in his seat (and sitting right in front of my sis in-law, we gave each other amused eyebrow raises).
And then Pierce Brosnan starts singing.
I don't think I've ever been in an audience that just deflated into awkward silence like that before. It was just like 'woah, he really really cannot sing. At all.' After the first song, I kept covering my face in embarrassment for him for the subsequent ones.

Yeah, it baffles me why they used him. Seriously- people would have gone to see this one no matter who was in it, because it was coasting on the success of the Broadway musical. There have to be attractive guys out there that can sing AND act. Pierce Brosnan made no sense in that role
