So we're three episodes in, (four if you count the two hour pilot) and here's where I'm at thus far:
1- Love Kitt's redesign (it helps that I'm a big Mustang fan) and I like that the voice sounds kind of like the original only a little more manly. Jury is still out over whether I'm gonna believe that a Mustang can turn into a pickup.
2- Diggin' Mike's storyline. Between his missing days as a Ranger, his ongoing developing relationship with Sarah, and his status as Michael Knight's son there's a lot of room for character development.
3- Like the new Knight Industries. Remember in the 80's when it was just an 18-wheeler and one chick in a jumpsuit? How far we've come. The expansion makes the whole concept a lot more plausible and brings in a bigger supporting cast which I think the original show needed. I like that there's an FBI presence as well, and the ongoing storyline of their shady dealings with Mike's past is intriguing. I never really believed that the Knight foundation would be capable of working autonomously from the government anyway, even if they did have enough money to build an indestructible super car.
Honestly I'm trying to decide if the whole concept is too silly to take seriously, but I'm actually kind of enjoying what I've seen so far. Any thoughts?

Apparently I'm like the only one on the planet that's actually watched it...

Um... NBC's ordered another four scripts for it.
That's all I got.

I watched the premiere and one episode. Thing is, I wasn't a huge fan of the original, but . . . the original KITT was still cooler than this one. It's the voice, man. It's the voice.

I suppose getting William Daniels wasn't out of the question. He's still alive.

Yes, but maybe at 81 he didn't want to do a whole series. Seriously, it's probably my age, but I get a little . . . disturbed when I see retreads of shows I used to watch in my not-so-far-off youth. I have issues with Battlestar Galactica too.

but... BSG is the best argument FOR series remakes.
Best approach towards series retreads, in my opinion is to judge based on it's own merits, apart from it's origins, while still being able to recognize and appreciate nods to it's source material. Like BSG getting Richard Hatch as a regular character. On the other extreme, The 'Rea'l Gilligans Island was, for lack of a beter word, an abomination.

but... BSG is the best argument FOR series remakes. Not from where I'm sitting. Starbuck is supposed to be a GUY, dagnabit!

I dunno. The girl Starbuck really grew on me, although she drove me bonkers in Season 4. But I will concede that the old Apollo can totally kick the new one's butt. Explains Bastille Day pretty well, doesn't it?
If we need further evidence that these two shows need to be discussed in the same context, Paul Campbell plays Billy on both shows.

Starbuck is supposed to be a GUY, dagnabit! Sorry Sue. Dirk Benedict will always be Faceman to me, but Katee Sackhoff owns Starbuck.
