I loved Knights of the Old Republic I & II. I was really looking forward to a third game. I was hoping for a Neverwinter Nights/Fable II online style game but no, from the announcement I just received from Bioware, it is going to be a full-on MMORPG. Dang

Yeah, that's been "rumored" (as in completely known though not officially confirmed) for a while now. I'm a fan of the KOTOR games myself, but I don't really like MMORPGs much at all. Probably because I play RPGs for the stories, and you lose that in an online setting where every character is another player.
So yeah. I'll second the dang.

Um, read up on it before making a snap judgment... it looks really REALLY cool, and they've said that the amount of story content in SWTOR will dwarf pretty much all of Bioware's previous games combined. They're the masters of the RPG story, and I'm willing to pony up for that.

I honeslty haven't heard enough about it to know what it's going to do. But I didn't mean that as a judgment, just that MMORPGs aren't my type of game. At least, none that I've seen yet. I'd be happy to meet an exception, because I do like the idea of playing with lots of other gamers at once, I haven't liked any of the ones I've seen.
A big draw of RPGs, to me, is the story, with character development and all that. That's the only thing that would keep me interested long enough to make it worthwhile. As great as the setting may be, that sort of stuff often gets left by the wayside in games like WoW and such. Now if anyone could do something with it, Bioware would be the one, but time will tell.
Of course, lovers of these kinds of games should line up, I'm sure this will be something you'll love. It's just a matter of preference. Don't let us get you down.
Mostly, my "dang" (and presumably DTH's) was in recognition that, since this would be a major project no matter how it turns out, the series I have enjoyed probably won't see another entry anytime soon. That's all.

If they can't even make WWII MMORPGs interesting, with the super-effective bonus of killing Nazis, no MMORPG will ever be good in my book. I find them an endless waste of time and energy. Plus, they depend on socialization and grouping, and thus I always lose.
So screw them.

Hey, remember what I said 11 months ago? Forget that: Watch THIS: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOvbv-LkK6wDon't get me wrong, I'm not completely sold on the MMORPG element, but MY GAWD that trailer could make the prequels seem like a good idea. Rett's opinion has been changed from 'bias and scornful' to 'possibly hopeful.'
