you know, sometimes life gets so crazy you forget until the very last moment that we (me specifically) are about 14 hours away from a GIANT SCREEN MIDNIGHT SHOWING OF A NEW JAMES BOND MOVIE.
dear lord! i'm playing it cool on the outside, but feeling like fireworks on the inside.
anyone else excited or even care? i went the insane route and bought 'quantum of solace' for my ds to play while i'm killing time in the theater, and i'm giving serious thought to putting up the massive 'casino royale' and 'qos' wall scrolls my theater-working friend gave me on my walls, even though they are as tall and almost as wide as any one wall in my house and would give an odd impression to anyone coming in to be faced with massive depictions of daniel craig.
still: awesome!

Oh yes, extremely excited! I've, erm, actually been dreaming about it the last week.
For me though, when I'm really looking forward to a movie, I just trying not to think about it until it's actually here, so I don't get the expectations too high. So that's why I've been so quiet.
(And, hey, if you're looking for someone to take those wall scrolls off your hands...)

I must agree, Kyle. I am *this* close to peeing my pants.
I haven't wanted to rent or buy the PS3 game yet because I was afraid it might spoil the plot somewhat.
However, I say go for the wall shrines. I've had the poster of Craig holding the UMP as my desktop at work since July and my screen saver is a collection of posters and pictures from all the the 22 films.
My biggest dilemma at this point is what to wear tommorow. Do I want to go all out with my finest suit or do I want to tone it done a bit and just sport a blazer?
As for the film itself - I've read a few reviews that were negative, but most were positive. Last time I checked, it had 75% on Rotten Tomatoes.
I'm still very excited, though. I probably won't like it as much as Casino Royale, but, hey, it's still Bond, and it looks awesome to me. My biggest worry is that they may have gone too far away from the conventions, what with the absense of "Bond, James Bond" and all. Still, I think this will be a worthy addition to the canon. Even if this one doesn't stand up as well the last one, there will always be another, because...
James Bond Will Return

Just saw it. Wife and I agree -- was pretty dull, just action sequences strung together with very little "Bond" feel to it all.

I agree with Justin. I just saw it a good 4 hours ago and was very unsatisfied.

I was more pleased than I was disappointed. It was certainly wasn't the best Bond - and more of an extended footnote to Casino Royale, but it wasn't a total disaster, either.
It did some things very well, and I particularly liked the plane sequence and the last 5 minutes. The pre-title sequence and the opening credits were pretty good and I liked the unique touch of the different fonts in the title cards whenever the film switched to a new locale. Those last 5 minutes, however, really brought it up from a C to a solid B in my mind.
Overall, a worth edition to the Bond canon, I'd say.
It was certainly different - but NOT an experiment I'd want to do again. My biggest complaint was that it was too Bourne, and too little Bond. Please, Hollywood, stop it with the shaky camera!
Hopefully, however, judging by the last scene, the next Craig film will be more of a return to Bond formula. A welcome change of course, in my opinion. Maybe they had to go to this extreme, to go this "un-Bond", to get the excesses of some of the previous Bond movies out of the system. Now that it's done, maybe we can moderate a bit.

Strangely, I've not seen QoS yet and as a British Bond fan, I'm actually surprised at myself. The first Bond movie I was old enough to see at the cinema was A View To A Kill. Since then, I've seen them all at the flicks, with the exception of License to Kill. I liked Casino Royale, I did. But it kinda ranked along side Tomorrow Never Dies: a fun movie but didn't really feel like a BOND movie. I suspect that the reason I'm not so impassioned to see QoS is two-fold: one, my other half hates James Bond and since I see most of my movies with her, I'll be going alone (my friends already went ) and second, Daniel Craig. Craig is a great actor but, like Timothy Dalton, he's just not Bond. *shrug* I'll try and get to see QoS this week.
