Yupyup.
Seen the first 5 episodes and enjoyed it. The series so far has been well produced, well acted and interesting. The only real problem is that its proper formulaic.
For the first 4 episodes it follows this formula:
1. Something bad happens 2. It relates to an experiment Pacey's dad did in the 70s 3. Pacey's dad is crazy for a bit but then comes up with the dope 4. Then it turns out that Pacey's dad has a solution for the problem but Pacey says "He's a nutjob, how can you trust him? I WASH MY HANDS OF THIS ENTIRE THING! YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ME! I'M LEAVING HOME!" 5. Pacey's dad solution works but don't forget HE'S CRAZY!
And yet, the episode with the Observer in it actually proved that there was something more than Insane Science Experiment Of The Week. There are tantalising hints of seriously cool metaplot, so I'll stick with it.
I just pray to all the dieties in other people's religions that it doesn't turn in Lost v2.0 and we actually get some answers and no more questions.
*shakes fist at Lost!*

Yeah I noticed the formula as well, but somehow it doesn't bother me yet, I find all their weird pseudo-science rather fascinating, plus I like seeing Joshua Jackson in stuff that doesn't have the word Creek in it.
About your second point, there are definetely more players in this game, at least two other entities besides the DHS, as far as I can see.

I watched (and fairly enjoyed) the pilot, but haven't kept up. I remember absolutely laughing my butt off when they convinced the heroine that the only way to save the guy with the skin problem was for her to lie in a tank in her underwear.
"Well that didn't take long!"

I refer to that episode as the one with the "melty people", that's the one I use when I advertise the show to my friends

Anyone actually still watching this show?
I got to the point where I was about to give up on it but then the mid-season cliffhanger got me interested. I watched the show when it came back after hiatus and now I'm really enjoying it!
