I don't normally ask for feedback, but since this viewing took me literally months to do... I'd love to know if it was worth it!

Definitely! I love this film and I know there are many others who do too. I really enjoyed reading it, mostly because all the way through it I was thinking "ME too!" I'd really love to see everyone do something similar: take a film they really love and walk us through it, take us on the same journey the viewer goes through. Film is so subjective, it is nice to be able to actually understand what a film evokes in a person. A+ Justine O!

Hey, mister! I left youse a comment on the viewing's page. But, seeing as this is one of my favorite movies of all time, I feel I should say more than "I enjoyed this". So: I love that you found out about Buttercup's Baby not ever going to be finished. I read TPB a few months ago and didn't get around to reading BB before I had to return the book to the library and do other, more mundane, things with my life. I had no idea that BB was a joke and now I want to read it just because of that. Your lung-hacking fairy is haunting my dreams. And he's wearing a tutu. For this I will not forgive you. Your description of the scene where the grandfather starts reading and the scene fades into the countryside has me wanting to see the movie again. Right now. I never cared for Buttercup myself, but I've never explored anything close to the depths of your hatred of her. I'll probably look at her a lot more critically at her now because of this. Reading your vitriol over her was very hilarious. I loved your description of why Westley didn't tell her about the R.O.U.S sneaking up on them. And as a side note, I think she was a lot worse in the book. I could not stand her. And Garfield does not suck! I totally agree with your assertion that the grandpa/eels interjection is the best part of the movie. This was movie was my first foray into cult films as an adult, and it was at that very point that I really started to love the movie and become a "cult fiend". There's a lot more I loved but I didn't take notes while I read it, so I can't remember it all. It was very good, I enjoyed it thoroughly, and if I weren't so busy today I would totally read it again right now. Way to go, Fearless Leader!

Three things: 1. Some of my happiest memories are of watching this movie with my family as a little kid. Thank you for reminding me why. 2. I've always felt the need to defend Buttercup, but after reading this I'm just gonna go ahead and say "Methinks she doth suck mightily." 3. I will however, defend Robin Wright (Penn). Considering the awful lines she has, she really does try her best, and she should be given kudos for that.

Well, another way to see the movie is that it is an extreme satire on romance novels where the guy is just perfect beyond perfection, and the girl is just occupying space until someone plants a kiss on her lips and shows her how to function in life. In that case, it's a masterful performance.
Thanks for the notes guys.

I modified my profile because of this viewing. And I'm really lazy, so that that should tell you how much I liked it.
I will say that while I've always found Buttercup to be a bit irritating, this sheer (as opposed to black or suntan) hatred was never felt by meself.
I always took it took be a bit of satire on the "damsel in distress" motif.
That's right, I brought out the big guns by using a snooty word like motif.

What did the senior citizen ask for when he walked into the denture store?
Motif!
