What would you recommend to watch first when approaching Babylon 5? The Gathering? The first season? Probably not In the Beginning because of spoilers?
I ask because I've watched Serenity first, than Firefly - which works great - and heard that many Firefly fans where... uncomfortable* with the movie. If you have an opinion, help me out!
*They had various reasons, I appreciate that. But I'm convinced the same people would have liked it (somewhat) better had they seen it first.
Edit: You don't have to answer me. It's just that it's now been 48 hours since somebody else posted. I'm not worried, though. That y'all know something I don't. No. *whistles jaunty tune*
I'll just take out the trash. I'll be right back.
D'oh!

I would definitely start with The Gathering, if only to get it out of the way. It isn't very good, but it gives you a decent introduction to the world of Babylon 5. A lot of the costumes and makeup changed between this movie and the first season (and three major characters were replaced completely) but it gives you an idea about how the show works and the dynamics between the races. I'd see it so you can say you saw it, but be sure to hold off on making any judgments until you're into the first season. That has some cheesy episodes, too, but give it a chance and you'll fall in love. If this movie had been my only exposure to the series, than I never would have bothered and that would be a shame. EDIT: Since I'm also just feeling my way along here, I've bookmarked this website that lists a suggested viewing order for the movies so you can watch them in context.

Thanks! I guess it is obvious when to read your diaries.
