I didn't realize until I was going down the list of reviews just now that Tae Guk Gi has been reviewed on this site.
Wonderful review, as always, Justin. I bought the movie pretty much on a whim at a local home improvement store (although mostly because I was just about to move to Korea for a year). That was back in March of last year. I finally got around to watching it with one of my roommates in the summer and was just blown away. I watched it again a couple weeks ago with my girlfriend, and was still just as moved as the first time I saw it. I, too, have it in my top war movies list, and would recommend anyone to see it.
Perhaps one of these days, when I'm not overwhelmed grading sometimes incomprehensible essays written by my Korean elementary students, I'll do a reader review of it (as well as a few others, such as The Good, The Bad, The Weird and The Chaser).
