I never thought I'd support Eminem on anything.
Not to be crude, but I wish he had given Cohen a solid punch in the junk.

I wish I could see this... YouTube had a video but it got pulled.
I think Eminem is overrated, and true to form, I literally don't know anything about Sacha Baron Cohen. I adored his whole cagefight incident though. When all those drunken rednecks paid to see cagefighting and got him and some guy making out instead.

Yeah, I'm no fan of Eminem or rap music in general. In fact, normally I would be all for playing pranks on rappers and celebrities, but...
Cohen just seems like such a jerk. His idiotic stunts are just a step above "jackass" and - what's worse- he (not his characters) seems to have such an air of intellectual superiority.
He's a British guy coming over to the US to make fun of those he feels are stupid, backward, and beneath him. It's utterly insulting. I've always felt like it was just another assault from the "hate America" crowd.
If I'm wrong, please, somebody set me straight.
Not to mention that his pranks are absolutely tasteless and insult the proper boundaries of civilized life. It's one thing to poke fun and someone, it's another to go into their home and bring your feces to their dinner table.
Oh, and it ticks me off that he's got such a beautiful girlfriend in Isla Fisher, but he has refused to marry her for years. jackass.
Anyway, I didn't see the MTV awards, but I caught the clip on my local news. One of the local stations in my area was punked by Cohen (the clip appears briefly in the Borat movie). The anchorman handled himself well, I thought, and he has continued to have a good sense of humor about it. Any time Cohen shows up in the news, this local anchor comments on it.

I'm not SBC's biggest fan (I find most of his characters just plain annoying) but I understand where here's coming from.
He's not hating on anyone: his humour is all satire and is particularly aimed at people who are either "up their own backsides" or just don't know any better.
For example, Ali G is a a complete satire of a certain type of British person whose style and mannerisms are completely taken from black culture (which he or she blatantly isn't).
I don't think I even need to explain the catchphrase, "Is it because I is black?"
Whether or not you like his work or not (and as previously stated, I'm not really) is one thing but I don't think he deserves being slated.

Slated?
Anyway, as I said, I'm more than happy to be proven wrong- I just know what I've seen (and I haven't seen all of his work).
It's just that he came across an ocean and into my backyard to make fun of my neighbors (in a sense). Sure, some of them may be worthy of ridicule, but it's kind of like the old understanding that I can talk bad about my family but you can't. Especially as an outsider without all the facts and with a different worldview.
Does that make sense?
And, yeah, not to be crude, but, I do think it is a pretty douche-y thing to get your hot girlfriend pregnant but refuse to marry her for years on end.
