I can't even begin to describe this video other than it has to be seen to be believed: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wdkw7sQZPT0The virtual water even reflects her image... I'm amazed. I thought this technology was decades away. How long until we can simulate Majel Barrett's voice and make my entire computer run on this?

I'm tempted to scoff and say that this is nothing more than a vastly more sophisiticated (read: actually functional) version of Dr. Sbaitso, but I'm not sure if said statement would be made out of genuine healthy skepticism or just good, old-fashioned desperate fear.

genuine healthy skepticism or just good, old-fashioned desperate fear. Experience has taught us both is warranted, seeing as we're looking at Microsoft advertisement. A sufficiently clever demo is indistinguishable from magic. Maybe they have created the most awesomest thing ever, "that Science Fiction is not even written about." (The poor guy has never heard of Star Trek?) Maybe every pixel in the video was staged and pre-programmed. Why speculate? Why get worked up today? In a couple of days or weeks at most, we will see tests by independent third parties, explaining in detail the workings and limits of Natal. Then we will have reliable answers. And if we don't see such tests, that will be an answer too. Edit: Here's the scoop already! (offensive)
