A little out of season but...
Way back when, a teacher brought in a VHS (~those were the days~) of a version of The Nutcracker. It was live-action and half movie (dialogue, acting and actual sets as opposed to all being stage filming) and half ballet. Saw it about 1994, but, at least the way I remember it, it looked like it was made in the late '70s or '80s.
I remember:
A scene where, a very blonde, Clara (Masha?) is asleep and ballet dancing is superimposed over her face.
Fritz is working with the Rat King? (that could be wrong)
It ends with Clara waking up from a dream and running to Drosselmeier's shop in her nightgown where his nephew is, in fact, the Prince. *dun dun dun*
I remember at the time Drosselmeier scared the bejeebers out of me.
Anyone have a clue? I've seen about a million different Nutcrackers and have yet to come across it again.

If it's the Mark Morris one, then no. The setting isn't modern, to narrow down the parameters some more.
Thanks though.

Robert Goulet isn't in it, is he? There is a mysterious Robert Goulet version out there.

I don't remember Robert Goulet being in it. But I'm not sure if I would've recognized Robert Goulet when I was nine. Methinks not though, as it didn't look like something from the '60s (but since there's very little info to be found on this version I can't really compare stills or clips).
I swear, this thing exists.
