Leon's Rating: House Party From Hell
Leon's Review: Few movies tug at the heart strings on a good side and bad side like this movie. Night Of The Demons is the kind of movie that if you grew up in the 80's you remember the carefree days of wearing sweaty t shirts, Denim jackets, and the proverbial middle finger to the law and rules. When this group of friends are invited to a Halloween party at an abandoned house ironically called Hull House, although I swear I heard them saying Hell House but whatever they probably don't know what they signed up for. We have two of the teen male hormone pleaser's out of the group with one of them being Linnea Quigley and who did not fantasize about her go out to get munchies. The two females, one of them being the scream queen at her best in my opinion sucker the store clerks by showing off some leg amongst other things and gets away with the goodies. Only if it was that easy. Fast forward they all reach and we have the standard 80's horror movie cast. The never scared punk, the fat sex deprived sidekick, the goth, the virgin of innocence, the token black man, the Asian, Linnea Quigley nuff said and the smart guy among others. They get there and things are not jumping which leads to insults. Then in a blink of an eye Angela the HDIC later on or (Head Demon in Charge) thinks of ways of oh inviting evil to the party. Hmmm to me that can be a bad move. So one by one everyone is killed and possessed. Sal who for some reason reminds me of Who's The Boss' Tony Danza plays hero for most of the movie and even finding his way into the bathroom with innocent Alice In Wonderland and finds Linnea with one of her victims eyes gouged. The scene that has been talked about as the lipstick scene has to be seen to be believed. But what gets me going about this movie is that Roger who is the lone black man of the group is scared as hell but finds the strength to help his friend Alice. Sal is dead but of course comes back to play. Angela who is full fledged demoness floats on a invisible conveyor belt while Roger and Alice basically been to every part of the house they should be great real estate brokers if they live. They realize something and that they have to climb the wall to live or they are doomed. One problem the only way to climb the wall is by grabbing onto the barbed wire that is across it. So we are talking bleeding hands and lots of ripped clothing. The Demons come out trying to pull one more victim before morning but Roger channels his hidden Hercules and somehow falls over to the other side of the wall while pulling Alice with one hand mind you over the wall too. All I can say is how nothing more. The demons turn to cigarette smoke and disappear and the survivors walk home. In the end this elderly couple who I guess the wife hates the husband gives him those dreaded Halloween apples with razors and well you know the rest. I loved the movie but there is just something weired about the evil involved to me. I feel overwhelmed in turn I threw my copy away. So if you don't care about being scared this is the movie for you. I seen it enough to know that its worth looking at but for me its any other day but Halloween.
