So it's confession time - Halloween style!
What's the goofiest movie, or scene from a movie, that's ever scared you?
I'll go first... Mine is... Buffy the Vampire Slayer... Yes, the movie.
Well it's really only one part, the rest is just goofy.
I can't find a clip so I'll describe: When Buffy is brushing her hair and puts it up in the red ribbon and then goes to bed and Lothos (the eternally spooky Rutger Hauer!) is already in bed and she lays on him and he takes the ribbon out of her hair and puts it around her throat. Gaaaaaaah!
Now I could justify it by saying I was only about 8 or 9 the first time I saw it, but the truth is everytime I see that scene it gives me nightmares. And I'm 25 now so....

I don't remember that scene, but I can see how the subtext would terrify a woman. A fashion accessory used against her, I mean.
I have an embarrassingly high vulnerability to jump scares. If I don't brace myself, the lamest spring-loaded cat, a sudden gun shot or even a slap to the face can make me jump out of my skin. At least I don't shriek.

The Chevy Chase/Beverly D'Angelo 'Psycho' shower scene in Vacation. Maybe I was young or watching it out of context or something, but I remember watching this and getting chills. At least until you see he's wielding a banana.

Hello, brand new here, first post! Mine is the 1979 TV movie of Salem's Lot. The scene where the kid is levitating outside his brother's window, tapping on the window to let him in...still creeps me out. I was 10 or 11 at the time and my bedroom was on the second level, I don't think I got a good nghts sleep for weeks. I always have the curtains drawn at night to this day.

I can completely agree with that one. As a severe fan of the book and (not entirely consequently) a hater of the movie, that is the only scene that sticks with me. I get a little sick at my stomach just thinking about that creeptastic scene, and I first watched it at 24.

Alright, I'll bite.
...
...
...I cannot watch the Dark Crystal. This movie disturbed me so much as a child that to rewatch it now would surely send me back in time only to relive it. Everything about it is... sickening. The torture scenes, the death scenes, the swarming army of devouring crab scenes, the enemies themselves... there's even (close to) an all male rape scene...with the aliens... THIS is for kids? THIS is considered classic?
Jim Henson even got the moments right. I mean, when you're watching a muppet get a laser into its eye to suck its soul into pure energy, and it writhes in agony in the clamps holding it down, you believe it. That guy doing the 'agony shake puppet' was quite talented... and sick.
