As we're about to close out the decade, our Sunday Sunrise discussion is about the biggest fish of them all: what should be dubbed the best film of the entire 2000-2009 era?
Lord of the Rings is a strong contender, but then again, so is White Chicks. What do you think?

Thee aren't going to top any lists, but my top five for the decade is probably Almost Famous, The Wrestler, Million Dollar Baby, Slumdog Millionaire and Spider-Man 2.

Top 5, in no particular order:
1. Chicken Run 2. Snatch 3. District 9 4. Corpse Bride 5. Crash
There's probably other ones I'm not thinking of, but my brain's still waking up.

That's a great discussion to have, in the twilight of the decade.
Also not for the top of the list, but not mentioned often enough: Insomnia, Brick, Gosford Park and Sideways.
... and I forgot The Lost City.

Oh, fail! Freakin' High Fidelity! Shame on me for not remembering that that came out in 2000!

I won't make a list - not yet, anyway - just cause I know I'm bound to forget some wonderful movie and then give myself even more grey hairs trying to work it into the list. But here are some favourites that come to mind:
Lord of the Rings, There Will Be Blood, One Hour Photo, Slumdog Millionaire, O Brother Where Art Thou, The Emperor's New Groove, Spirited Away, Wall-E, Cast Away, Paranormal Activity, Sin City, A Mighty Wind, Downfall, Donnie Darko, Good Night and Good Luck, The Corporation, Hotel Rwanda...
More to come, I'm sure.

You guys know how I feel about calling something "the best" or "favorite," and I don't think of movies in terms of decades (so the mental filing system is having a hard time pulling up titles) ...
