has anyone else been watching this? I can't give up on Scrubs because I love it so much but if this Lucy chick remains the voice of the show, I don't know how I'll take it. I like Denise and Drew, and James Franco's little brother is perfectly obnoxious

I've been watching it, because despite my better judgment, anything Scrubs is like crack to me. It's been... alright. I went in pessimistically, so I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't terrible. It definitely doesn't reach the heights that Scrubs did at its peak, nor is it really trying... I haven't seen any episodes that try to do what "My Old Lady" or "My Lunch" or "My Screw Up" did so well. But I'd say in its better moments, it's about equivalent to what Scrubs was when it was just kind of coasting along. Every episode usually has at least one or two lines that make me smile, which is more than I was expecting.
It was smart of them to contract the original actors to appear in so many episodes -- beyond Dr. Cox and Turk, every episode usually has at least one other "old schooler" -- because it feels a little bit more like a continuation rather than an entirely new show. However, I will say that not getting Judy Reyes back at all leaves the character of Turk kind of adrift... Donald Faison is fine, but without JD (most episodes) or Carla, the two characters he interacted with the most are gone, and unlike Dr. Cox, his character was more dependent on those two to feel integral to the plot.
I'm not hating it, but I'm still treating it more like an interesting epilogue rather than a true continuation of the show. "My Finale" was still the real end of the story, to me.

I hate to say it, but I'm glad JD is gone. I used to love JD, but he just really, really wore on me by the end. (Although, RDM? Take note- "My Finale" was how to do a series finale.)
That said, I'm liking Lucy better than I thought I would, and Denise and Drew entertain me to no end, even if Drew totally wants to be Dr. Cox at times. I am amused every time Kelso comes on, and Elliot still cracks me up.
But boy, do I miss The Janitor. (And yes, I know why he isn't around anymore. But still.)

I was pretty sick of JD as well, at least in terms of his romantic engagements -- he was so incredibly shallow and bi-polar, and I just couldn't stomach any more. But stuff with him and Turk was always gold.

They really rushed into that 9th season with a bunch of new students instead of giving the idea of a season with almost no returning stars time to gestate. What I really wanted was the show to bring all the secondary characters together (Shirley, Keith, Lonnie, Josephine, Boone, Debbie, Molly, Kim, Kristen, Dr. Wen, Dr. Miller, Dr. Moyer - the machines guy, Dr. Callahan - aka: Dr. No Shot, Ronald / Snoop Dogg Attendee, Denise BUT also Katie and Ed, Bruce, Rex, Franklyn, Colonel Doctor, Dr. Beardface, Dr. Zeltzer - the oncologist, Dr. Johnson - the dermatologist, Dr. Bobb - the hematopathologist, Dr. Chase - physical therapist, Randall, Dr. Turner & Dr. Hooch, Stefanie / Gooch, Troy, Sean, Marco, Danni, Kylie, Jordan's 2 friends, Dr. Maddox and Dr. Norris - I know they're both megastars, but they could try, Turk's mom, Josh (J.D.'s student) and Phillip (Elliot's student), Elliot's mom, The Janitor's dad, etc) and make the show about them to give the main cast members time to move on. But honestly, I thought almost all of those characters had their own charisma and were good enough to be given more screentime.
