Where in the world is Gnome Chompski?

As a preface, I admit that I am WAY behind the rest of the gaming community.

That said, I want to ask if anyone else has found Gnome Chompski in Valve games and where?

I know that he is in Left 4 Dead 2 as an achievement in the Dark Carnival episode. While reading up on said achievement I found he's a kind of mascot for the company.

Today, while playing Half-Life 2-Episode Two I accidentally found him at the beginning of the episode in the transmission center under the platform. I was just dragging stuff out at random with my gravity gun, trying to see if there was anything useful, and there he was.

A Google search turns up a maddening amount of info on the Left 4 Dead 2 achievement and Wiki only references Avram Noam Chomsky (hehe) so I was curious if anyone else has had a run-in with the little fellow?

err being a political science major i've had plenty of run-ins with Noam Chomsky lolz.. i didn't know he was an in-joke in valve games! wow thats neat

Yeah he's a little garden gnome...Chompski. I found out he's also an achievement in Half-Life 2: Episode Two.

I've stated before that I'm about, oh, 8 years behind the rest of the gaming community.

If you can bring the Gnome all the way to the end of the game and place him in the rocket before the door closes, you get an Achievement for that.

I've heard it's bloody close to impossible.

I saw that when I was flipping through the in-game list of possible achievements. When I read that you were supposed to put the gnome in the rocket at the end of the game I looked over at my husband and said "Wait, what? The....the gnome at the BEGINNING of the game? They want me to take that through all the strider fights and hunter scuffles and zombies and THE WHOLE BLOODY GAME?" Screw that."

My exact words...more or less. Possibly more cursing.

Nothing to do with Gnome Chompski, but I did get L4D2 for Christmas. Haven't played it yet because I wanted to finish RE5 first, but whenever I get my Xbox back from Microsoft, I'm planning on getting into it. Bearing in mind that I've never played online before, if anyone's interested in stomping zombies together once I get up to speed, hit me up.
