Thanks... it was a fortuitous situation. An elderly gentlemen in the church died five years ago and left a sum of money to the church to use as it saw fit. The plan is to invest the money and use the interest in funding my education, leaving the church the original sum untouched. We'll see how that turns out.
I went down to the seminary and chatted today with the dean of admissions and the dean of academics. They put a lot of my fears to rest about going back to school after so long (see, Sue? GO TO COLLEGE ALREADY!), and I'm happy I don't have to learn Greek or Hebrew as MDiv students do.
Of course, I also don't see this as exactly the same wild and wooly college experience of my youth; if I charge into class topless bearing a giant stuffed teddy bear and order all to bow to his every whim, it might not go over as well.
