Shalen, I know where you're coming from. My purse was stolen last year. On Christmas Eve in a cemetary no less. I hope you won't have much trouble replacing all your lost document. Please tell us you didn't keep any cherished pictures or personal items that can't be replaced?

...listening to your coworkers blather on about how they're bored because there's no work to do when you're having the suckiest, busiest day of the last six months. Having a client complain for 15 unbillable minutes about the one time you took a day off and he had to speak with one of your coworkers. Then catching yourself thinking "Geez, I think we only have 5 beers left at home... I don't know if that's enough to make me forget today." Shalen, I know where you're coming from. My purse was stolen last year. On Christmas Eve in a cemetary no less. ...dare I inquire about the circumstances leading you to be in a cemetary on Christmas Eve? Was the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come involved? Does he have an alibi? On a more serious note, that really sucks, Shalen. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. -D

On a more serious note, that really sucks, Shalen. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. -D As of whenever my new Soc. Security card arrives in the mail and my Avon order gets here, I'll be fully recovered. Poorer, but recovered. Misery is also... Making an appointment for a haircut, then getting there and having to wait for an hour because the stylists who have ONE OTHER CUSTOMER IN THE ENTIRE STORE forgot you were there. Seriously. When I was getting my coat and purse to leave one of them looked at me in a startled way and said, "Oh, were you still waiting?" I'm never going back.

Having to wait until Monday to find out if you've lost a helluva lot of important work files. EDIT: Not to mention that if I have indeed lost these files, it would be the second time in less than a month.

The files I could be losing this time ARE my backup files. Long story.

The uber religios person living beneath me putting pages of the bible in my letterbox. Pages with certain verses underlined in red marker, telling me how Jesus has condemned me to Hell.

Man, you'd think that'd be the kind of news He'd want to deliver in person...
I'd respond with a healthy dose of "Judge not, lest ye be judged." But that's just me.

The uber religios person living beneath me putting pages of the bible in my letterbox. Pages with certain verses underlined in red marker, telling me how Jesus has condemned me to Hell. So... they're ripping up the Bible? That's an interesting and demented way to witness. But look at it this way: 1267 more pages, and you've got yourself a complete set! Trade with your friends, be the envy of your neighbors.

Wishing my brother would call on Christmas, and knowing full well that he won't.

Exams. Curse you, William Faulkner! Curse youuuuuu!
The animosity I feel towards authors who write in entire novels in stream-of-consciousness* is nothing compared to what I feel towards the entire Russian monarchy right now. Why I decided to take Russian history on a whim is beyond me.
*Actually, I like these** a lot. I have a weakness for them. It's just writing about them that's hard.
[hoping I get an essay question on Hemingway instead]
** Except for Faulkner. I'd just like to make that clear.

Jury duty summons? Jury duty? I'm 30, never been called to do this yet. Argh.
