Hi gang!
Seeing as my computer pulled a "this message will self destruct in 5 seconds" without the benefit of the 5 second warning a couple weeks back, I'm experiencing the joys that only come with trying to recreate the careful mishmash of programs, quirks, and virii that resembled my previous machine.
But as I always do when my computer breaks down (I've got it down to once a year now, it's quite remarkable), I also like to tweak and improve the small things I used to take for granted. For example, for the longest time I've had a (very good) Matrix screensaver, with the falling green characters and quotes from the first movie. I always loved it.
But like all screensavers, it got old.
So, assuming any of you have made it through all my colourful commentary and are still awake, do you have suggestions for cool screen savers I could go find and use? Here's my list of qualifications:
MUST: - NOT be a virus - actually do the function for which it was designed (ie. save the screen, not animate the screen in place or always play the same thing so you get burn-in anyways... and yes, I have a flat LCD screen, sue me.)
MUST NOT: - be vulgar - be Christmassy
And it doesn't have to be movie related. Suggestions?

I was always partial to that realistic-looking aquarium one, myself.

Of course I can't find the link now, but mine features the good dinosaurs of Qwantz dancing. But I must admit my desktop wallpaper tickles my nerdy bone even more: Desktop Earth, an image of Earth from space that updates every 5 minutes.

I have a screensaver that is just a bunch of colored dots swirling around. Really basic, but as far as I'm aware it's not standard anywhere (I've never acutally checked anything above Win2k to see if they've put it in there.) It's really mesmerizing--I've had it since high school. If you want it I can e-mail the file to you.
