My mutantreviewers.com email address comes with a second address that I don't actually use. It's sat vacant for as long as I've had it (a year and a half at least), and it has NO messages (spam or otherwise) in the Inbox. Which means obviously the fact that I haven't used it at all means it's not on anybody's lists yet.
I hereby propose sacrificing my email address in pursuit of scientific-type knowledge. I'm going to submit my email to ONE mailing list, and see how long it takes for me to start getting spam, and how much. These privacy statements are all just legal floweryisms for "we're gonna sell your name, dude", so I want to put it to the test.
What I could really use is a suggestion for what website/service I should give my address to. What do you guys think? Who's absolutely CERTAIN to sell my name to the highest bidder?
Results will be posted after I get my first spam. Wahoo!

Wow, NO takers? Okay, it's all up to meeeeeeeeee!
Red rover, red rover, we call AOL over!
I started signing up for AOL. I gave them the name Steve Poole with an address near (but NOT actually) Justin's and a proper zip code, on the fictional Evergreen Terrace. The phone number is a weird amalgam of J's phone number and my own. And lastly, the email is my (real) dummy address, which I'm still going to protect that it's only been used for this one, single purpose.
When it got to the whole "billing" part, I started hitting Cancel. So officially, I have not submitted my name and email to AOL. But unofficially, what will their dark machines start doing where their masters bide not? Do they still have poor Steve's info?
I'll give it a week and see what happens. If nothing does, I'll try somewhere else.
