Well, if it IS Rich, perhaps he can explain why he just abruptly up and left the site without so much as a how-do-ya-do, and never replied to any of our e-mail inquiries? What to say…? I owe you all an apology for the way I acted (or didn’t act, as the case may be). While there were a number of mitigating circumstances at the time, that doesn’t excuse the cruddy way I treated everyone who I both like and respect on this site, Mutants and forums-types alike. So why the sudden silence? Well, I can boil it down to a whole lot of things, none of which are really true, but the bottom line is: Guilt. I had a lot of personal issues going on in my life all those 15-16 months ago. A rapid change of job, from an unchallenging and meaningless dead end office job where I had plenty of time to write reviews to a high stress high pressure sales job, was combined with a rapidly-getting-more-serious-relationship following by a moving in together with said person. Despite the rapid cut in my free time, I still tried to keep up with the review schedule, but the bare fact was – I wasn’t watching any movies any more. Heck, my free time was pretty much divided between work, my girlfriend, and sleep. And when I started missing deadlines, that made me more and more guilty. I hated myself for not being able to do my part, and I did what I normally do when that familiar sense of guilt and self-loathing takes over, I ran for cover. It was a crappy thing to do, I don’t deny, and if I weren’t as much of a wuss as I am, or as desperate to avoid any kind of confrontation, I would have done the honourable thing, resigned my commission, and stepped away gracefully. Sadly, I am an innately flawed human being, so I cut and run and hated myself for it. And so, again, I apologise to you all. I’m sorry, a thousand times over.

Rich, bud, I won't lie to you — it really did hurt that you left like that. We were honestly worried about you and kept trying to reach you to make sure you were okay. I hope you know me and Pooly well enough to know that we wouldn't be mad or fail to understand your changing position in life, and somehow crack down on you for that. Life changes, and it's all cool. We just wish you had talked with us about it... having to cut you loose was one of the hardest decisions we've ever made on the site. It just hurts to lose a friend and not know why.
So thank you for your apology, and at least on my behalf, you're forgiven. Welcome back, and please feel free to enliven the forums with your age-addled drops of British wisdom!
