Hey everybody!
Just wanted to take the opportunity, both for myself and anyone else who wants to contribute, to say Merry Christmas and a happy assortment of other holidays to you all this year. I'm so continually proud of this little online village of responsible, polite, and yet critically funny personalities we have reading the MRFH and signing onto the Forum, and 2003 has been yet another banner year. It's good being the Bearded Momma!
Anyways, I hope you all have a safe, happy, spoilt, and fun holiday season. Take care and have a great time!

Just a word from your official Christmas moderator here, ready to moderate throughout your holiday season.
It's 10.21am here in Arroyomolinos in Spain on the 25th of December, and I'd just like to wish everyone here a wonderful and exciting set of holidays.
And if you're wondering what on earth I'm doing writing on the net on Christmas Day...I'm simply getting out of the way of my parents, who are scrambling like mad things preparing our traditionally ludicrously lavish Christmas Dinner.
So, to all and sundry, Feliz Navidad from Espania!

Woke up to a white Christmas, and spent some time walking around in the quiet neighborhood with snow falling everywhere. Quaint. Charming. Lovely.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays all around, don't drink the egg nog because Kyle spiked it and you don't want to know what he spiked it with.
Of course, we'll all want to hear about the *strangest* presents you've gotten for Christmas this year. Mine right now would have to be a present from Pastor Steve (my boss), who gave me a *nose hair trimmer*. Not, as he says, a hint, but he saw it advertised on TV and remembered me saying that "Italians were hairy."
It's the thoughtfulness that counts.

In lieu of strangeness, how about this year's best present? My sister bought me the soundtrack to Final Fantasy Tactics, and I've been spending the better part of the morning trying to find a way to jack it directly into my brain. It's like buttah.

Merry Christmas!!!!!!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday, whatever holiday they celebrate.
I'm having my first Christmas ever away from my parent's home- it's very strange, even if it is still wonderful. Going to the in-laws in a bit, and then tomorrow going to see my Mom et al. The in-laws will be a blast, as hubby has three nieces and a nephew.
No wierd presents yet, and the best one has been seeing the siding starting to go up on our house!!!!
Happy holidays! Lissa

Merry Christmas y'all! I didn' get anything wierd this year, but I did get a Simpsons trivia game. If you've never played it, the game itself is pretty bad but the trivia questions are pretty cool...they are arranged in 5 levels of difficulty, 5 being the hardest. I was playing level 4 and winning.
Embrace the nerdliness.
Oh, and did anyone see those Lord of the Rings rappers on TV? My parents TiVoed a LotR special on Tech TV for me and they were on it. They sucked in every way imaginable.

Happy belated Giftmas/chaunaka/kwanza/yule/winter solstice/annual consumeristic gift giving extravaganza!
Strangest gift I got is something that I'm still not sure where the heck it came from. The morning of christmas, when I woke up, I had twenty bucks. Then my dad gave me thirty-five bucks as a gift. Then my mom gave me fifteen bucks in exchange for a blockbuster card I got that I can't use (I'm, er, not allowed back ... for reasons...). So if you're keeping count, that brings me to seventy bucks. WOO HOO! Okay, but get this, going back to count my money since I've been saving up for a violin recently and wanted to see how close I was. Well SOMEHOW rather than seventy bucks like I was expecting, I had ninety-four dollars. Twenty-four dollars than I had just an hour before, and NOBODY was admitting to it. Still no idea where I got that.
But of course, as my life would have it, I got back to count to see if I could make a down payment on my violin, I'm suddenly DOWN fifty-five dollars. That's why it's not the best present along with the strangest. And again no one is fessing up. I'm ticked about that.
But my best were two video games, Fatal Frame (AWESOME!) and Jak and Daxter 2 (yet to be played). Everything else were two sleeper pants, a jacket, and sweater. Not so exciting, but still a good giftmas.

I got various clothing items, two CD's, and some DVDS; Pirates of the Caribbean, all 3 FLCL discs, and (coolest of all) an original Japanese box set of the first Lupin the Third DVD. And money, including some Hastings gift cards.

I got this too. Arr. Has anyone else noticed Jack trying to be a jedi towards the end of the blooper reel, or am I alone again, naturally?

Hey, Happy Holidays (b/c I'm late). Nothing like your net service dying for five days. Yay.
Anyway, I was quite happy with my gifts. West Wing Season 1 is a treat.
Okay, I'll quit.

Okay, we've had a rough few days, so I'm counting my blessings and betting I got two of the best Christmas presents of all.
1.) My father-in-law (bear in mind I get along WONDERFULLY with my in-laws) was coughing up blood earlier this month. He smoked 3 packs a day for years, and used to work in a foundry. We were terrified it was lung cancer. He just got the X-ray results back the other day- it's not. (Not to say he won't develop it, but at least it's not yet.) We're thrilled.
2.) My cousin arrived home safely and whole from Iraq- he's a pilot for the Navy. He also got his orders for the next two years and is with a squad that doesn't deploy. I saw him for the first time in YEARS (not all due to his military activities) and finally met his 4 year old son. He finally met my husband.
We've been having a rough few days (in-laws car catching fire, settlement date changed, etc.), but those were two strokes of amazingly great news.
And we're finally seeing Return of the King tomorrow night!!!!!!
Happy New Year! Lissa

Hehe. Would you believe we actually (okay, -I- actually) went for a whole week without ice cream? It was a travesty.
