That's right, ladies and gentlemen! In order to celebrate my passing the EMT-Basic state practical exam (the written is tomorrow) and gotten a job interview (it went well), I now present to you this game from long ago.
What you do: Pick a Christmas movie or song quote, in this case "God rest ye merry gentlemen, let nothing you dismay."
Go to Babelfish, which is here: babelfish.altavista.com
Type your choice into the box and translate into another language, preferably one you are familiar with. Now translate it back to English and report the results.
When I Babelfish the above quote into Spanish and back to English, I get:
Horsemen of ye of the rest of the God the happy ones, do not leave to anything you consterna.
This is even more fun if you don't tell the original quote and let everyone else guess. Further examples in English to Spanish to English:
Quiet night, night santa; everything is barren, everything is shining.
Rudolph the red-smelled reindeer had a very shining nose.
Frozen they snowman was a glad happy soul.

The chorus of "The Night Santa Went Crazy" Babel-fished into German: The night sank went the night of holy moved, the cut carries out it spirit-ill went, to the raw agreement somewhat finally keep must've clever in its brain. And the chorus of "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" also Germanized: Grandmother kept run more rueber by a Ren, which goes home from our house Christamas Eve. They can say that it no such thing as sank gives. But which concerns me and grandfather, we believe. I like how Christmas Eve turned into Christ amas Eve.

This one doesn't lose clarity in the translation, but I love the grammar mistake...
I saw Mamma to kiss Santa Claus yesterday under the Mistel evening which did not see her me to creep down the stairs in order a view to have.
Apparently, the Mistel toe... spies on people....
