We can throw up a review page, we're just going to keep it at one, though. So if you want to do the first part of a two-part review, we can post that, but leave enough room for the second part, cause we'll add that on in your review.

I handed over my review to Justin this afternoon. Look for it at a MRFH site near you.

(Reads the review) Wha...? Hattori Hanzo is in this flick? Would that be the historical version, or the Samurai Shodown version?

I've only done a wee bit of searching to be sure, but I think right now that it's probably a reference to the historic Hanzo. Not a direct one, but one, nonetheless.
But if anyone knows for sure, please advise.

Hattori Hanzo is in this flick? Would that be the historical version, or the Samurai Shodown version? Having now seen it, I'd say neither, and maybe both. Seems to me like QT wanted a good, legendary name to throw in for the swordmaker in Kill Bill. It's quite obviously not "Devil Hanzo" himself in the flesh (unless he actually wants to infer there's a 400 year old ex-ninja running a sushi joint in modern day Okinawa). And he definitely does not LOOK anything like the Hanzo from Samurai Shodown. So yeah, I think he was just going for a historically significant name.

I just saw the movie, and I gotta say it was totally awesome. Wicked bahd awesome, as my collective group of homies call it.
I won't say it's the best movie ever, not really close, but it is a damned good watch. Very worth while, I think. I'd definatly recomend it to anyone wanting a little more gore in their lives.
Unless they're the parents of kids way to young to see it, like two families in the theatre were. Oh goood, that pissed me off. There were kids no older then six running around after the movie pretending to cut each others heads off. And another little girl had to be carried out sleeping. If you can't afford a baby sitter, save your money and don't go out to see that movie with your kids. Yeesh.
Sorry for that rant, but that pissed me off so much to see those kids there. But the movie was wicked, totally.

Look at me! Swimming against the stream!
I can't stand QT, as a person. His interviews and "acting" appearances move me to destroy TV. Not just my TV, all TVs. Granted, I don't know the guy, but that's not gonna stop me from hating him.
I'm also not a fan of his writing. I'll just stop there. As a director, however, he's great. His movies always have great camerawork and music.
That said, I was willing to put that all aside for Kill Bill. I hadn't heard a single bad thing about the movie. I went to it expecting to love it. I was wrong. The music and camerawork was there, but the dialogue and most of the scenes were just *eh*. The more I thought about the movie afterward, the more I disliked it.
Best part: Morricone-inspired music during anime scene.

Time for me to take out the geekiness in me...
*dons SNK fanboy cap*
Hattori Hanzo, from Samurai Shodown, is based upon a real ninja of his time. I'm not certain of the complete details, but he was a real person. Yagyu Jubei was also based upon a famous samurai that worked for a shogun back in the day, and I've read reports that Amakusa Shiro Tokisada was based on... get this, a Christian Priest of the era.
Kinda strange, no?

Have a link with you! Crazy Funster! It seems most of the characters in Samurai Shodown are at least loosely based on historical figures.

I just saw Kill Bill. Very likable for an animefan like me. I laughed through the entire movie, i don't know why but it was all the likeness to ninja/samurai anime that made me laugh.
The actionsequences had all the tricks off anime cinematography very successfully transferred to liveaction. (I don't think Uma Thurman could make cool martial art movie without it. The fun thing with anime is that they get very simple to make scenes and make really cool and aesthetically pleasing stuff with a little sliding, feeling of artyness and good timing of cuts.)
And if the little überninjagirl in school uniform don't tip off the anime influences the actual anime flashback does.
Kill Bill felt very much like a live action anime (Parody?). In everything but the choice of music. Everything including the the structure of the story reminded me of anime. (One piece off music gave me the distinct impression of being stolen from Samurai Jack though.)
I loved it. But i didn't feel it had much more than being an excellent live action anime. (Live-action anime... It's a a paradox if anything, but you get my point i believe.)

Welcome to the Forums, ÄlveKatt!!
Yes! I welcomed a new person! Not only that, but I've set myself up to ask the following: Does your rather puzzling screenname have anything at all to do with Breath of Fire 2?

Thank you for the welcome Hucklebubba.
I am afraid my rather puzzling screen-name have nothing whatsoever to do with Breath of fire. (That i know of or intended at anyway.) As i am swedish i chose to have a screen-name in swedish. It pretty much means Phairy-cat. I have a thing for cats and phairytales. But i have friends that speak very highly of this game.

I have a thing for cats and phairytales. Then BoF2 is your game. If you can find it, that is. Verily, 'tis rare and somewhat expensive. Its retro quality makes it so.
