Hey all,
I promise, a review for The Rundown is coming, but until such time as I can get it ready, here me now:
DO NOT SEE THE RUNDOWN.
I don't care HOW many mainstream critics have gone gaga over this one. This is the biggest evidence that the critics can be bought I've ever seen. It's just another BORING ACTION MOVIE. It's not the worst thing I've ever seen, but the way Ebert and Roeper went on about this thing, you'd think they'd spliced in frames from The Godfather on a subliminal basis.
More to come!

Um... we need someone to volunteer to cradle PoolMan in their arms and tell him it'll be alright... C'mon people, I'm not doing it again! Don't make me force a volunteer!

Hey HM! Not to worry, I'll look after him and feed him a nice mug of warm milk. I saw it with PoolMan and somehow have managed to remain uninfected by his rage but must agree that it wasn't nearly as good as I thought it would be. MA

And his rage is indeed boundless when his heckles stand on end.
Hey, I'm just surprised you guys went to see that. There weren't many other choices at the theater?

There were, but I was just so stunned at all the positive press being given to a "The Rock" movie. Seriously, I think there's been some major greasing of palms going on here.

Part of it is a determination of whether or not The Rock returns to the ring or stays in movies.

He could keep doing movies, I won't lie to you. The potential really is there. There was not too bad acting coming from the Rock. Not great, but way better than when Ahnuld began his career. My only real beef is that this movie got so much attention. It's just not as good as everyone says.

So, this is one of those instances of a movie being killed by it's own hype, eh? Would it have been enjoyable if it hadn't been lauded so much?

Quite possibly. I spent the entire movie going "Okay, so is THIS where it becomes amazing?". Rather than just sitting back and enjoying a decent enough action flick.
Of course, without the hype, would I have had the curiousity to try it out in the first place? Still haven't seen Scorpion King...

Interestly enough, Pooly, there's NOTHING left for The Rock to do in the ring. The title's been hotshotted onto him so much, the feuds are all done at least twice, he's basically got to move on to movies, even though his ringwork and willingness to put anyone over should be held up as an example to all ringwarriors.
Okay, that done with, I still haven't seen it, but my friends did enjoy it. I just say that I find myself wondering if we'll see him doing a Rock Bottom in every movie he's in.

Dare I ask what "doing a Rock Bottom" means?
