And phonetics. How would you pronounce womxn anyway?
I think a lot of the language changes are silly, to be honest. "Men" may be the root of "women", but we're all the same species, last time I checked, despite sarcastic comments to the contrary. I'm all for women's rights, but I'm also all for solidarity among the human race.
I'm sure there's been language changes I might agree with, but they aren't leaping to mind before 7 AM. I guess I do approve of slang changing, but that's kinda not quite the issue.
And since my husband came out and said good morning, and my response was "Goodnight the issue", I think I'd better go. Eek.

I (almost) got into a lot of trouble on another board because I didn't really support finding new, gender-neutral words for sir/madam, he/she, and that kind of thing. I had to hold back though because I didn't want to get banned, but now I wish I had torn into one of them (now that I'm tired of the forum altogether) because I suspect she was a closet "men are scum" feminist. Plus I hate her for completely other reasons, and it would have been satisfying.
Ah, lost opportunities.
Side note: I avoid using the word "woman" in speech because I can't pronounce it quite right, so I use "girl" or "lady." I wind up either insulting someone or sounding like Jerry Lewis--neither option is particularly appealing.

This reminds me of this: www.the-brights.net/In a nutshell: some atheists, agnostics and the like want to be called "brights" from now on. (Like homosexuals with "gay".) I disapprove for two reasons: 1. All the language changing things listed previously. It's stupid. 2. Even if I did want to have a new all-emcompassing term for folks of my worldview... BRIGHT?? That makes us sound like a whole bunch of elitist, snotty know-it-alls who think everyone else is a dunce. Which we might be. Whatever. Luckily, there's been a lot of resistence on the boards I go to. Lots of people see the stupidity in it.

*notices what he did*
um...sorry, I guess I couldn't think of many other archetypes that aren't used much, but...oh well...I didn't mean anything offencive there if anyone's taking that way, and I didn't mean to make a huge rant. Well, I would've said this earlier if I got on in the last couple of days, but I didn't. I was taking a break from the computer.

I don't think anyone took offense!!! (I sure didn't!) In fact, I had to go back and find what you were talking about.
Actually, I think most people would agree with you- it would be nice to see feminists that don't fit the stereotypes.

Oh, a new one (though it might have been a bit better to say this 15 years ago):
Sufer dudes who aren't completely stupid.
