I never miss Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown, which is corny as can be, but really puts me in the right frame of mind.
Die Hard is another less-remembered Christmas movie that probably won't make the list but deserves mention here simply because I don't think Bruce Willis gets enough love on this board. Yay, Bruce!
Oh, and another vote for the animated Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
Al -Also, while probably not a chart topper by any means, Olive, the Other Reindeer really cracks me up.

Oh yes they can! It's possibly the only movie I've walked out on, other than the "art" film directed by the professional newspaper delivery guy at my old job. Oh, and Peter Pan, when I got scared by Hook and started screaming and my mother had to take me outside. More X-mas movies: - A Midwinter's Tale (AKA In the Bleak Midwinter)
- Blackadder's Christmas Carol
- Ernest Saves Christmas

I'm slightly more partial to the new muppet Christmas movie (the one where Beaker is a bouncer and Sam is a raver in an alternate universe), probably because The Muppets Christmas Carol isn't that good. It's not horrible, it's not tooo boring, it's just a 2-hour shot of blah. I need to find my tape of that one. It was worth it for the Moulin Scrooge! bit- but the alternate universe was pretty classic too. I like Christmas Carol largely for the team of Gonzo and Rizzo. I think they play off each other well. Plus I got a kick out of Jacob and Robert Marley. And okay, okay, put some decent songs in it and I'm probably sucked in- at least for the musical numbers. Muppets have always done great songs, and I've always enjoyed the song with Christmas Present and the song introducing Scrooge at the beginning. Unfortunately, Robin the frog continues to annoy me. There's also always Christmas Vacation, which I'm not a huge fan of, but the rest of my family adores. Liss

People have already mentioned most of my Christmas favorites, namely Scrooged and Christmas Vacation both of which I watch every December and will soon be watching again...
Also, if it's not been mentioned, I really like Gremlins as a Christmas movie. And as a kid, me and my sister used to watch Santa Claus:The Movie every christmas eve.
Best films this year?
I thought Phone Booth was as good as I hoped it would be. Pirates of the Carribean was easily the most fun I had in a cinema. Kill Bill, Vol 1 was exceptional. X-men 2 was pretty good.
Thats all I can think of for now.

Ah yes, I used to love that movie as a kid. I saw it recently, it's a little much, but it holds a special place in my heart. hehe.
It was already mentioned, but I can't believe I forgot to mention it, but I just love White Christmas. I watched that movie obsessively when I was in Jr. High.
"I want you to get married. I want you to have 9 children. And if you only spend 5 minutes a day with each kid that's 45 minutes and I can go out and get a massage or something!"

I second Babes in Toyland, because I used to watch it all the time when I was really little and I loved it, and Gremlins, because of the same reason (but I was a little older then). Gremlins 2 was pretty good also, so consider that one.

My roommate and I have gotten into knock-down fights with his gf and her friend over Diehard NOT being a Christmas movie.
Just b/c it takes place at Christmas doesn't make it a Christmas movie...

"Die Hard" is so a Christmas movie. I mean, come on! "Now I have a machine gun, ho ho ho"? Classic!
By that same token, I consider "Critters 2" to be a great Easter movie.

Yeah, I was pretty much raised on Christmas Vacation. My whole family sat down together for the first time in years to watch it on Thanksgiving. Without any prior planning, myself and my two sisters shouted along with the movie, "I don't know, Margo!"
And one of my family's favs has been thus unmentioned. Prancer, anyone?
There's another one I can't clearly remember the title of. May have been Santa Claus: The Movie. Is that the one with evil John Lithgow and Dudley Moore as an elf? I think Dudley's character was named Patch, and that might've been the title as well.
And though it's cliche, no list of this kind can be comeplete without A Christmas Story.
