I was just watching MTV and Jessica Simpson said she's "in talks" to play Jeannie in an "I dream of Jeannie" movie.

Ah, it's time for that famous internet-borne acronym:
LOL.
Good grief. That's absurd. Lemme guess, the decision was made based on hyperaccurate navel measurements?

I Jessica Simpson said she's "in talks" to play Jeannie in an "I dream of Jeannie" movie. Let's see, do I watch TV Land?....nope. Do I watch MTV anymore?.....nope. Do I watch any movie that stars anyone remotely resembling a pop music star?....nope. Good, then this doesn't affect me at all. Just making sure.

The thing is, I don't know *who* watches MTV any more. In the past two years or so, I've never talked to a teen that mentions that channel or any shows on it, and I do get the feeling that it's very out of vogue for the 8-18 demographic (which is its key target audience).
On the other hand, the subtle majesty of MTV's Undressed has yet to be recognized as the 10th World Wonder.

For example, here's a show summary:
"You Bet Your Boobs" - Dexter loses all his money on a bet, and wears a pair of fake boobs around campus to earn money.

Yes, MTV is the incarnation of evil. There is no doubt about that. Everything I don't like comes from MTV.
Also, that movie idea is an instant failure, without a doubt. I won't see it.
But I guess if there's something good on TV Land then I'll watch it (I mean, come on, I need to see the Fonz every once in a while).

Clare watches Jackass, and I know people who watch Punk'd. But the only thing I'll watch is that new Outkast video by Andre, and they show it on VH1 as well.
I last watched MTV in 2000 when my college roommate and I would get back from class and turn on TRL. We watched for amusement, and to root for Marilyn Manson to beat out N*Sync.

I'm torn between a series of factors...
I hate MTV. Tough, love MTV2 (UK). I was also a member of the Anti-MTV movement, but as it got taken down recently, so I think that doesn't count. I have a severe dislike for E4 (also UK) the on the same scale as MTV for their crime against punk by promoting the like of Busted. If they hasn't reached the shores or America yet, be thankful, and boycott them if they do try to take America.

I've gotta admit though- the one thing I do thank MTV for is Gollum's acceptance speech of the best CGI character MTV movie award. That was hysterical, and I'm glad MTV exists to bring us that. But now that you can get it on the DVD, MTV can go away again, as far as I'm concerned.
(Do they even actually PLAY music videos anymore?)

My room mates watch Viva laBam and Wild Boys...maybe a few others. What channel is "Ride with Funk Master Flex" on? God I hate that show. I dislike all three actually, but Wild Boys can on occasion be funny.
Does anyone watch Fuse? They play a lot of music, but for some reason it always seems to be that song with the green-suited riders singing backup. It gives me convulsions.

I no longer have cable, however even when I did I never saw more than 5 sec. of MTV for the past 5 years or so...except for the rare chance that the remote got knocked out of my hand and switched to it.
Personally I can't stand 90% of the "popular" music out nowadays (I'm doing my best to boycott Clear Channel...which pretty much limits my listening to CD's and college stations) so it makes it even easier to NOT watch.

I'll catch Viva la Bam and Wild Boyz (and Punk'd) if there's nothing on HBO that's more deserving of my time. Jackass isn't on any more and since they only rerun the 2nd and 3rd seasons and I a) own them on DVD and b) have seen them all a billion times, even if Jackass had its own station I wouldn't really watch it. Other than that though, MTV can fall off the face of the Earth and I'd be all for it.
