It only opens at midnight, people. How could this movie not have a thread already? Who's got tickets? Mine are for 6:25 tomorrow evening. I'm getting really excited. Why can't today be Wednesday? Interesting thing I learned from the TTT DVD was that Tolkien(yeah, it's spelled wrong I'm sure, but I'm not going to take the time to look it up, you know who I'm talking about) didn't want the third book to be called Return of the King because he felt that gave away the ending of the story. He wanted the third installment to be called The War of the Ring. I really like that title. It's too bad the publishers didn't go with that one instead. And here's a great strip from Bob the Angry Flower: Lord 'o the Ringz"And I can't even quit smoking!" hahahahaha

I can't wait. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to.
We just don't have time or energy to go on a week night- it's too long a movie. Then this weekend is all taken up with holiday parties. We'd LIKE to go, but.... So we might go Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. I'd actually really like to go Christmas Eve. In my ideal little world, we wouldn't get any other invitations, and we'd just go out for a terrible (but terribly good) dinner of burgers at Max and Erma's and then see the movie. Just spend time together completely relaxed. Of course, that might not happen, but today, with the kind of lousy day I'm having, I'd love it.
On the bright side, it's not like anyone can ruin the movie for me. I know what happens in the end. I just have to wait. Oh well. Could be much, much, much worse.

Midnight tonight. Already got tickets, and me and some friends are going to go stand in line to get a good seat at about 10:30pm. That puts me back in bed at 4am, right in time for a 13 hour workday.
Ahh.
I am all that is geek.

I've got stuff going on through Saturday, and I'm hoping to maybe make a late showing then. Wish me luck!

I'll be there tonight, too. Leaving in half an hour to beat the crowds, and I took tomorrow off so I can gush geeky goodness for hours afterwards.

This weekend for me. My girlfriend has threatened bodily harm upon me if I go see it without her, and neither of us really have a good common time to go see it during this week.

Just saw it. It is now 6AM in Dubuque, Iowa, and I've been away from the theater for 3 hours..... and I'm still glowing! I will not say anything about the film to protect from spoilers, but I will now have to say after seeing it.... Matrix what?
Hehe one little thing which is not really a spoiler.... if anyone knows Elvish, please stay to the end of the credits and post a translation of the message that is given near the end, not at the end, but somewhere near the end. I'm really curious to know if there are any fluent Elvish speakers in here... I'm an Elvis speaker myself, but that doesn't help me at all, unless I'm talking to Jay Sherman or perhaps The Chin Himself, so I'm going to bed now to get 2 hours fo sleep before I have to goto work, see this movie, hunka hunka pretty momma! ;D

I'm at work on 3 hours of sleep (murphhhh), but hey, it was definitely worth it. No spoilers here (starting to think about my review, but I'm not going to tackle it until I can at least walk straight), but wow... just wow. The audience was cheering and clapping and laughing, and there were at least four genuine goosebump moments in there.
Sooooo tired. blargh.

Less than 8 hours to go. LESS THAN 8!! Oh, man, oh man, I'm starting to get crazy excited about this. I left my tickets at home today which sucks because I won't have time to go home between now and when the movie starts. LUCKILY, luckily, a friend of mine who's going with me tonight has a key to my house and he'll pick them up on the way to meet me at the theater. *phew*

5 hours for me. 5 hours, for the love of all that is good and holy... I'm going to go crazy before then!! I've spent the past two nights watching the expanded editions of the other two, both to keep it all fresh in my mind (though I've read the books three times, I know what's going to happen) and also just for the sake of completionism. Listening to TT soundtrack right now (I won't buy ROTK soundtrack until I've seen the movie, that way it'll be fresh to my ears...); I got this day off two months ago. Yes, I am obsessive... but with 5 hours to go, I've got a right to be obsessive.

Saw it last night, but was too beat to post.
In an effort to not annoy everyone else in the audience with the straggling remnants of my cold, I spent the first two hours of ROTK drinking water and eating cough drops on an empty stomach. So, naturally, while Frodo traversed the tunnel of ... her..., I was suddenly struck with the realization I had to vomit. Now. I started sweating and got chills, shoved my jacket off my lap, clutched my stomach, supressed my coughs as best I could, and absolutely refused to leave probably the best movie I've seen all year. It passed quickly enough, it was maybe only two or three minutes, and I was fine from then on (no more cough drops, though), but I'm glad I didn't miss a single second because The Return of the King is simply unbelievable. The acting was completely top-notch from every single actor involved; the effects were unmatched, natch; and where so many other trilogies are dragged down by the weight of third installment, The Return of the King lifts the story into new levels of triumph.
There is no reason this movie shouldn't sweep the Oscars except for the fact that it won't. So, I'll stop here and leave it at 'Amazing Amazing Amazing' until everybody else is in the know.
Al -oh, and by the by, you know what I hate? Pockets of people in the audience who snicker and make gay jokes whenever Frodo and Sam are onscreen.

Saw it at midnight, and then got one and a half hours of sleep before school (stayed awake on Red Bull). The movie is amazing and you shouldn't miss a second of it (not even for bodily functions). The only thing i didn't like was the cutting out of Saruman (sorry if i spelled it wrong...i'm on a caffine binge). I could have stayed there for another 3 1/2 hours just basking in the glow of this movie. DON'T MISS IT FOR THE WORLD!

Been there. Seen it. Busily digesting it.
Could it possibly be that *I* am the one to be underwhelmed? Hm...
Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but I think my favourite will probably remain Fellowship. I need to see it again though, for absolute sure. Can't say much more than that yet. Helluva cap for the series though, that's for sure.
And a word of warning (mild, mild spoiler):
if you weren't arachnophobic BEFORE this movie, you might just end up that way. Yikes.
