Has anyone else seen this yet? It's the new Tim Burton movie, and if anyone knows him, you probably know how awesome everything (mostly) he's made rocks.
I got to see it christmas day in some pretentious fru-fru theater down in Hollywood, where the tickets are 14 bucks a head, and they assign you seats. I hate that theater, but it was all worth it.
The movie is awesome. Without giving to much away (I hate spoilers), it's about a guy who's father has told tall tales all his life. Not lies, but stories and stuff. And the son gets sick of it after a while and stops talking to his dad (reasons shown at the beginning of the movie).
But a few years later, the dad winds up getting really sick. The son decides to go home, with his new wife, and just stay with him.
Throughout the movie the dad tells stories about his lifes "adventures" and what not. But the son keeps asking for the truth, but the dad never admits to lying.
And that's where I'll stop, because you just have to see the movie. It's awesome, and I'd definatly recomend it.

My gal is really excited for this one, and for once it's not just Ewan-lust. And I have to admit, she's gotten my curiousity going too. Right now it's only showing in limited theaters, but I'll have to track it down.

My sister-in-law got the book for Christmas. She was halfway through by dinnertime, so I guess it must be good.
I plan on watching it right after RotK and 10 Things I Hate About You...I got her that for Christmas and she asked if I was dropping a hint.

I just saw it with my brother. It was good and teary, but in a happy, kind way.
And my Ewan-lust works only when he's Scottish. So I wasn't distracted.

Oh no... please tell me it's not an American accent again!
Waiting to see it, but Return of the King has priority.

Hee! It's a larger-than-life ALABAMIAN accent! (For all you non-Americans, think Forrest Gump.) But don't let that stop you. It fits with the role, and it's only distracting for a little while.

Is his accent as bad as it was when he was "Skip" in Down with Love?

No. That was a caricature of a Texan astronaut. In Big Fish, his accent itself is fine. Albert Finney and Jessica Lange sound much the same. But it's very Southern.

I think Southern is easier to do. But in Black Hawk Down, every time he spoke I burst into giggles (which was really inappropriate, given the movie). His accent was nothing short of terrible in that one.

I saw it Saturday night and really liked it. My friend's only comment was that it was a bit bizarre. I don't know if that meant she didn't like it or that was all she had to say about it.

It was Tim Burton. (And Ewan McGregor.) How could it not be bizarre?

It's EXTREMELY bizarre, but in a way that keeps you smiling the whole way through, until the end, where you'll cry like a baby.
Honestly, it was like a theater full of sniffling women. Myself included. If the last ten minutes of the movie don't stir anything in you, you've got a heart of stone.

I loved this movie soooooo much. Jessica Lange and Ewan McGregor were the best among a stellar cast. The whole story was so whimsical and lovely to watch. It just felt really good to watch it. I think this is one of Tim Burton's best.
