See you haven't reviewed Shaolin Soccer in your listings.... you have to see it and review it! It is incrediby daft and tongue in cheek (not to mention in Chinese with English subtitles) but definitely worth a watch - I've seen it twice and will watch again as I keep spotting something new!

Shaolin Soccer is hard to find for the North American mutants, as Miramax owns the North American rights to the movie and is enforcing the region restriction very heavily. I imported a copy just about the same time that they bought the NA rights, and had no problem getting it. However, I've heard that it's pretty hard to get your hands on nowadays.
Miramax is dubbing it in english for release in the US. It has been postponed over a year and a half from it's original release date, and is now slated for a US release of March 26th, 2004. Perhaps Rich or Alex would have luck finding it in their respective countries?
Anyway, I agree that this movie is hilarious and deserves a review. Unfortunately, I think they'll destroy some of the humor when they dub it into english.

Jonno, that's definitely one title that's been on the top of my must-see list for quite some time now. Unfortunately, it hasn't come out in theaters over here, or to DVD yet, so us north americans haven't really had a chance to partake yet. However, when it happens, rest assured, we'll get a review up.
Meanwhile, maybe Rich or Alex has access to it that we don't, so who knows?

Yes I've heard the whole region restriction thing is causing probs over there.. not sure what the culture regarding hacking DVD players is in the states?
In the UK it is pretty normal..most DVD players are now sold fully region accessible - I bought my Sh Socc DVD from http://www.yesasia.com...they look to have stock issues at the mo although there is a Japanese version available for $38 !

The copy I bought was from Hong Kong and was Region 0 (ie: playable in any region DVD player). I don't remember where I bought it from, though, as it's been 2 years since I got it.

www.dvdnorden.com is where i got mine. I am afraid it might be a bootleg though. The image is very good quality. But the subtitles are so heavy with grammar errors that they are completely incomprihensible at a couple of places. The movie was still very entertaining though. Very. I think you might wanbt to avoid the american version when it comes out. Rumor has it that it will be very heavily edited. Edit: Direct Link. www.dvdnorden.se/product.asp?ProdID=42662&CtgID=Strange. Heavily edited or no, I've been trying to see this movie since I first saw the previews for it. I've been trying to figure out how we can get the movie into our store. I guess I know why now. Miramax has to ok it first. The we can talk about distribution. But when it comes out, I'll be the first to grab it.
