Has anyone seens this, in theaters or otherwise?
I happened to pass by a copy of the Bulletproof Monk DVD earlier today, and was possessed of a strong urge to buy it.
Looking at the box art makes me wonder how it could be anything other than the best movie ever created. You see, once you get past all the subtle nuances, (Assuming there are any.) any good action movie can be boiled down to three basic ingredients:
1. Chow Yun-Fat
2. The gun in his left hand.
3. The gun in his right hand.
Of course, Seann (pronounced "See Ann.") William Scott is there too, which may negate the Fat Mojo.
Also, I remember BP as being one of those movies that just sort of wafted in and out of the theaters without making so much as a peep. (A veritable cinematic death knell.)
And I seem to recall that the professional critics gave it a fair pasting when it first came out. Now, it's not that I don't unequivocally believe everything pro critics say, I'd just like to hear an opinion untainted by palm grease. Hence, I'm here.

Bulletproof Monk was fun to watch once, but that was about it for me. Chow Yun Fat doublefisting pistols will never cease to be fist-jammed-in-the-air cool, but this is no Hard Boiled and really feels almost tame next to a lot of the stuff we see from overseas. In America, wanton gunplay is only okay nowadays if you are linked into a virtual world controlled by machines or stuck in an watered-down Orson Welles nightmare future, so instead there's a lot of wirework kung-fu (which has officially ceased to be different and interesting in my book) and a lot of SWS trying to not get pegged for life as Steve Stiffler. Don't interpret that as 'don't see it', however, I encourage you to check it out if it sounds like your thing. My only advice is to be sure to know where your twenty bucks is going before you open the shrinkwrap.

I want to see it at some point. I just think the combination of Chow Yun Fat and Stifler has to be seen to be believed. Who came up with that idea?

Go ahead, watch it if you must. But, and really this is just my opinion, and I could be wrong, but I'm quite sincerely of the opinion that Bulletproof Monk was the worst film I wasted £6.50 to go and see at the cinema last year.
Chow Yun Fat needs a better agent.
