This has absolutley, positvely nothing to do with anything, but I have to share it without starting a new thread: Some Nobel winning guy and his research on a homosexual necrophiliac duck. www.nmr.nl/deins815.htm

Actually I find that blockbuster thing to be kinda funny. Also, I'm a little upset that I never thought of it.

Re: The Duck Thank goodness that we have crack scientists covering this sort of thing, I'll be able to sleep better at night. As for Blockbuster, when wasn't it pure evil?

The journal is a mix of legitimate (and some not-so legitimate) articles; it's surprising to see what they sometimes find. Check out the Ig Nobel awards, when you get a chance (the duck story was their 2003 Biology winner)... It's surprising what sometimes makes its way into legitimate journals. Makes me wonder every time I get a journal submission returned. - Duckie (who is in no way associated with the mallard in the link above )

If I had access to a journal database, I'd try to find the article, but I've seen a paper that attempts to calculate the heat loss from Dumbo's ears. They referenced the metabolism of young elephants, the proportion of surface area that Dumbo's ears took up, and possible needs for such a cooling mechanism.

I guy I knew at school once used physics to calculate the number of times you would orbit the earth if punched at full strength by superman, using comic references to determine the maximum force Superman was able to deliver with a single punch, taking into account things like wind resistance and gravity.
Thank goodness no-one ever let him near a research grant.
