As I might've mentioned already, I'm taking off from Feb 25 through March 4 on a mission trip with our church to a small town about an hour south of Mexico City. We're going to be doing a variety of things there, from construction projects to running a handicapped camp to teaching classes, and it'll be the farthest away I've ever gone on a mission trip to date. The mission we're going to is actually 9,000 feet up in the mountains, a beautiful place, and it should be a great time to get to know the locals and the other church people coming with us.
I'm mentioning this for a few reasons:
(1) To explain why there's not going to be any updates from Wednesday through next Wednesday,
(2) So that you'll keep our group (and me) in your thoughts and prayers, for safety and the ability to do genuine ministry, and
(3) Our team leader is sending out a daily mission trip e-mail, keeping friends and family informed about what we've been up to, little stories, etc. If you'd like to be on this e-mail list, just let me know (send me an e-mail or something), and you'll get one week's worth of updates, and then nothing else... you won't be on this mailing list for more than a week. It's no biggie if you don't want to be on it, I just thought that if anyone was interested on what loco Justino was up to, you could find out.

My suggestion: bring some oxygen tanks, I've heard you might need them.

Heh, I've thought about it. When I moved to Colorado, the shift in altitude to just 5K feet gave me breathing problems and headaches for the first few days, but they say just to take it easy and drink lots of water (not THE water, but safe water), and it should be okay.

I want to say again be careful. I spent time in CO myself and got sick from lack of the good ol' O2. You might want to be VERY careful if you're going to be doing construction too. BDC -Another mother.

Shall do, Pooly.
And I will be careful... we're taking along our church doctor, and our denomination's done tons of these trips and really had no serious problems with the altitude, so it should be fine.

Your church has a doctor? Is that standard?
"It's okay. I'm a church doctor."

"Hey everyone!
It's day 4, and everything's going great! Well, except for the fact that we lost our youth pastor (Jordan, I think his name was?) over a cliff face. That was a bummer. But them's the breaks, sometimes!"

Whoa, Justin, are you still based in CO? See, cuz, that's where I live. Maybe I need to rethink my mutant-stalking agenda. Canada is so far away...

I think Justin's already left (he was due to go Wednesday morning), so I'll field that one.
In fact, let's consider me "Boss For a Week". Can't wait till he comes back and reads that one!
Justin is no longer based in the sunny, mountainous region of Colorado, beautiful in its Canadalike qualities. He is now in the ash gray wasteland of Detroit Rock City, a town known for its amazing highway system and disappearing bars.

Not to mention our famous hot pink camels. I'm back. Very tired. Glad to see everything's still in one piece, despite BossMan's gross misappropriation of office supplies and secretaries named "Bambi".

Had a terrific time. I'm so glad I could take off work today, because I slept in till 10 and I'm still trying to shake off a cold bug that I got down there. I took like five disposable camera worth of shots, so when those get back I'm going to be setting up a simple web page on our church's site with stories and picks for all to see.
It's good to be home, tho. And with the MRFH update out of the way, I'm off to do laundry.
Laundry Man, away!
