I had to watch that a couple of times to figure out what was bothering me about it. Then it snapped. I get that that's a teaser, not a full trailer, but the only spoken dialogue is that of Johnny Depp. The only acting credit listed is the name of Johnny Depp. Are we about to get "Mad Hatter in Wonderland"? It looks like such a faithful adaptation of the original illustrations, and yet it also looks like the Hatter gets a Cap'n Jack-sized role...

I don't think so. He'll probably have a prominent roll but I doubt it will be his movie. He is the biggest name in the film and the studio wants to use his name and image to help sell tickets.
I can think of plenty of films that have used high profile actors as the main focus of advertisement even though they might have a very minor roll in the film itself.

AvatarThis looks absolutely amazing! And the best part is that this is from a director who has done a lot of amazing work in the past so it should be more then just eye-candy.

A Nightmare on Elm StreetI'm not exactly holding my breath for excellence, but I definitely approve of the trailer. Here's hoping.

It's directed by some guy who directs music videos. Which doesn't fill me with hope.

You guys missed a point - Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Kruger. THAT'S got to count for something, after his excellent turn in Watchmen!

That is indeed some ideal casting.
But let's not forget what happened the last time a franchise was handed over to a director of music videos...
Alien. 3.
(Shudders.)
