I'm thinking about writing a story, so I bought some cheap used DVDs of some quite bad teen "social horror" films - Disturbing Behavior, The In Crowd, and Teaching Mrs. Tingle. I hope to correct their flaws in my writin'.

Wow, it's been so long since I bought a movie that I can't remember what the last one was. Probably Road House, so that I could watch it with the Rifftrax I downloaded. It was well worth buying, too. Mike's reaction to the scene where the bad guy tells Patrick Swayze "I f***** guys like you in prison!" was alone worth the cost of the DVD. My friend and I hurt ourselves, we were crying so hard from laughing. MAN! I miss my computer right now. I need more Rifftraxs. Hmmm...that being said I think I'll start a thread about Rifftraxs.

Much Ado About Nothing, finally. I was surprised at how hard it was to find.

I bought Rent recently, and I've just ordered Mozart and the Whale.

I haven't bought a movie in a while but I did just pickup season 1 & 2 of Sliders. It's still just as fun as I recall from 10 years ago

Received Death Trance for my sister's birthday this weekend. Amazingly, frenetically bizarre Japanese fantasy/action from the same action director and star who did Versus. I'm working on a review right now.

I bought Rent recently, and I've just ordered Mozart and the Whale. Have you seen Mozart and the Whale yet? I was stoked to find it in Blockbuster because it deals with Asperger's (which my brother has) but let's say I don't have a ton of faith in Josh Hartnett and Diane Kruger as master thespians. So I don't want to watch it unless I hear good stuff about it, because I'll just get mad.

Live, old thread! LIVE!
I just bought Love & Death for my brother, which has way more gut-laughs than a relatively unknown Woody Allen Russian comedy should.
And I've ordered the Shakespeare Retold series, which I cannot recommend highly enough to all the Shakespeare fans on here. It's 4 plays retold in modern settings - for instance, Macbeth is set in a very fancy restaurant, with all the associated ideas of rank and power.
"Isn't that a bit Gordon Ramsey?" "We don't use that name. It's bad luck. Just call him the Scottish Chef."
They also do Taming of the Shrew (Kat is a politician), Midsummer Night's Dream (sadly, the least inspired of them all) and, best of all, there's Much Ado About Nothing, where everyone works as news anchors. Much Ado is probably my favourite of the comedies, and this version is even better than the Emma Thompson one. Plus, what they did with updating the Hero - who is played by Billie Piper - storyline seals the deal, though I don't want to give anything away.

Just wondering if you've ever seen the Reduced Shakespeare Company? If you're a fan of the Bard, their Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) is one of the most inspired things I've ever watched, I highly recommend you check it out.

I believe I have, or I've seen something very much like it. The bit on Othello ("No, not that kind of moor!") still cracks me up, not to mention the hyper-abridged version of Hamlet (everyone runs on stage and immediately dies).

Yup, that's the one. The Othello rap is particularly excellent.
Here's a story 'bout a brother by the name of Othello He liked white women and he liked green Jell-o, And a punk named Iago, who made himself a menace 'cuz he didn't like Othello, the moor of Venice!
