i'm using a little bout o' food poisoning to catch up on a whole lot of taped television, and here are my top five things that i absolutely and unapologetically love about modern television.
5. around the horn and pardon the interruption let you know every day what the big sports stories are, and with plenty of cool arguments making it interesting!
4. scrubs is consistently funny, and even a couple of dour, serious plot-lines (that only occasionally pop up) can't sink all the fun.
3. 24: one of the greatest shows ever. i can't believe how amazingly adept at weaving all these plot threads around the 24 creators have gotten. kiefer rules, too!
2. hugh laurie as house on house, and the show in general. GENIUS. plus, two different girls recently (again) compared me to dr. house. i can dig it!
1. whether or not you think the oc is as good as ever or sinking incredibly fast, i contend that rachel bilson is one of the best things ever. EVER. just like hugh laurie can do anything (he should be the new number six, not christopher eccleston [no offense, dude]), rachel bilson can do anything and should do everything. AMAZING.
what do you like?

I watch just a little to much TV...But I have my watching down to a science. Friends at work TiVo the shows I miss at their house and then we all watch them after work.
5. House -- All the characters on this show are stupid except for him...which makes the Doc with the cane look all the smarter:)
4. Prison Break and 24 -- I combine the two because they're viewed consecutively this season. I'm at the point where I enjoy watching PB more than 24 because it's more intense...but still hold the firm belief that Jack Bauer could have gotten his brother out of jail in one episode...Jack gets it done!
3. Lost -- Ever since Alias went down the toilet I've been loving J.J. Abrams new show. It never goes anywhere but I enjoy the characters and am always at the edge of my seat when Kate and Jack are on the screen together.
2. Grey's Anatomy -- I watch this, I sympathize with Meredith...even though she's a worthless ho-bag. But I think she is the most pathetic part of all women so we give her a break. Who am I kidding? I watch it for McDreamy, McSteamy and now McVet.
1. Boston Legal v. The Office -- I love both of these shows and they both leave me the most comedically satisfied. I'd probably choose Boston Legal just because you can't beat a show where Shatner gets to shoot guns and be an all around narcissistic ass.

The only thing I watch (aside from Dora the Explorer and Sesame Street, but that's more my daughter's doing) is LOST, and I love it so much words cannot describe.

"Veronica Mars" is smarter than me. I'm worried it's kind of ruining my life because most other TV suffers by comparison.
Note that here I use the phrase "ruining my life" to mean "makes TV slightly less enjoyable". That's actually pretty apt.

Macaroni, you are so right. Veronica Mars is the greatest show on tv, hands down. My second favorite thing about television is the fact that USA has reruns of Law and Order so much. Everytime someone asks detective Stabler if he has children and he says "I have four" it's awesome.

South Park and Family guy (the new episodes for both). I especially liked the ode the my favourite Stephen King book and one of my favourite movies (Pet Sematary). And Family guy just keeps getting better

Sadly, most of my favorite TV shows are now defunct, but I still consistently enjoy South Park and Law & Order. I also enjoy the occasional episode of Grey's Anatomy.

I don't watch much TV. It's really pathetic. I purposely didn't watch American Idol, because for the past two years that's gotten to be a scary obsession of mine.
But I will say this... Jeopardy is still as nerdy as ever. And that's what I like.
(I also liked FX showing That 70s Show reruns. I can watch it on Fox, then just switch over to FX. Life rocks.)

I don't watch much TV. It's really pathetic. Actually, I tend to score that under "Intelligent".

I don't watch much TV. It's really pathetic. Actually, I tend to score that under "Intelligent". Depends on the show, my Canadian comrade.... depends on the show. Throwing my two cents into the thread, my favorite thing about TV in 2006 is that Scrubs got back to its usual high standards after a slightly shaky start, and that it was (finally) renewed for another season. My least favorite thing is that it won't start until midseason next year ( again), so the huge cliffhanger will get to sit until, ah, January. Swell. Other favorite thing is that the Sopranos finally came back; least favorite thing is that I no longer get HBO. Blast! -D

Ooh! Ooh! I don't watch ANY TV! What does that make me? ...shuddup. I don't want to hear the answer It's weird how much I just don't miss it. Having more time for my wife, gaming and reading (not to mention MRFH stuff) makes it worthwhile. It is nice to be able to share a TV series with Caramel, such as our DVD exploits of Lost and Battlestar Galactica (she loves both and yet refuses to accept a "geek" label).

Yeah, that's more or less how I look at it, J. The TV I watch the most of now is the nightly news, and maybe whatever PoolGirl happens to be watching to unwind late at night. So I'm up on my Gilmore Girls and Will and Grace, but that's about it.
And I'm fine with that. Maybe a little too feminine, but fine.

There is no shame in men watching "Gilmore Girls". That's not about appealing to a certain gender. It's about appealing to people who are awesome.
