We recently bought that disk with all the old school Spnic games on it. I've been stuck on Spinball mostly, but enjoy the second one every now and then. It is beyond weird to be able to play "gear to gear" mode on one screen. Brings me WAY back, as I used to have one. Still have most of my games but I broke my Game Gear.

Recently purchased Dawn of War 2 and have made it about 3/4s of the way through it. It's a fun game but could be better. Towards the end it gets a little repetitive. As well, the more I play, the more I want to go back to playing DoW:Dark Crusade again.
I would say the main difference between DoW and DoW2 is that when I played the first I could hardly pull myself away from it but this version doesn't have the same effect on me. Still have to see about the multi-player.
One funny thing I've noticed is that from clicking on the icon to the actual game menu I have to skip through 5 intro spots for all the developers and opening sequence. It reminds me of movie trailers that you have to sit through before the actual movie starts.

As soon as I heard the music for Sonic 2 I was squeeing like a little girl. It brought back SO many memories. Also my husband and I had the kind of fun grownups just shouldn't have playing Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine against each other.

I swear if we ever meet IRL your wife and I must have a showdown, for a similar situation happened to me and my hubby. I had a head start on my man because I used to play Columns on my Game Gear. Mean Bean Machine just kind of brought it all back and I whooped some serious tail. Man, I really miss my Game Gear. Next time I go home for a visit I should bring it and my games back with me if they still work.

Hi everyone! I'm new here, but I've enjoyed the site for a long time, and just now decided to join the forums! Thank you for creating such amazing reviews, all Mutant Reviewers! So, what games have I been playing? I just finished playing the Chrono Saga, three games in total.
Chrono Trigger (for Super Nintendo or PS1) Radical Dreamers (downloadable content for the Super Nintendo using the out-dated Satellaview: it can only be played now using an emulator as a result) Chrono Cross (PS1)
After having finished the last game, Chrono Cross, I felt like I had embarked on a journey as amazing and deep as the Dune book series by Frank Herbert! Seriously! What do yall think?

With my recent leap to a quad core processor on my home machine, all of a sudden there's a pile of games I'd been intentionally ignoring that I can now play! Hooray!
So I kicked things off with the newest iteration of Prince of Persia. I have to say, I'm a sucker for this series. Ubisoft has totally impressed me with these games. It's very pretty, plays very smoothly, and is as much fun as the Sands of Time trilogy.
What's different is your companion. You get paired with a sorceress named Elika who - get this - will NEVER let you die. If you fly off a cliff, she'll grab your wrist and take you back to your last safe standing point. If a boss has you down on the ground, she'll blast him off you (at the cost of the boss getting some life back). She also becomes an interesting extension to your acrobatic abilities. The Prince can only leap so far, but she can further your jump with magic if you need it, or access plates embedded in the walls that open up strange new ways of ascending.
It's an interesting change. Rather than make the player responsible for maintaining his or her own sand gauge (and the ol' rewind power), you're effectively given unlimited rewind, courtesy of your partner. In effect, you can't die. You have no sand gauge, and no health meter.
Some people have griped that this makes the game too easy, but I'd say it simply makes it less frustrating. The whole point of the former rewind system was to give the player more than one shot at attempting a difficult trick or sequence, but not infinitely. Now you're given free range to tackle the much more open levels (they're not nearly as linear as they used to be) and try things out, penalty free. I spent thirty seconds trying to plan a route in my head from a safe distance before realizing I could just TRY it and see how it went.
Anyway, lots of fun. Anyone else given it a shot yet?

No, but I certainly will. I was about to follow that sentence with "After I finish playing FFXII, which I really hate but want to complete just for the sake of completing it" but, as the wise men say, screw that.
My husband owns Prince of Persia and left it here for me to try while he's on deployment. I have yet to pick it up, despite his insistence that I will "love" it. I suppose I can't ignore TWO glowing reviews quite so easily, so I may get started on that tonight or tomorrow and let you know what I think.
Thanks for the recommend.
As for what I'm murdering my thumbs to, I already mentioned that I've been playing and hating FFXII. Blech.
Anyway I finally have an X-Box 360. I have about 15 games for it, all of which are collecting dust because I can't tear myself away from Burnout Revenge. It's just that....cars...and destroying things....this game is crack for me.

I picked up Metroid 3: Corruption for the Wii from our local library the other day (our local library rocks - the weekly Rock Band tournaments are testament to that!). I've always loved the Prime series since it began on the GameCube, but boy oh boy, the Wii controls just blow it out of the water.
The left (nunchuk) hand feels pretty much the same as it ever did, but the wiimote in the right hand gives you an incredible deftness with Samus' arm cannon that I can't even comprehend how I used to aim with the thumbstick. Point and shoot shooting? Awesome!
I also really loved how in the first few minutes of Corruption, they actually populate the Metroid universe with other characters. You walk around a fleet starship meeting other bounty hunters and officers - it's a shot of much-needed personality for the series.
Plus, they've rereleased all three Prime games on a single Wii disc, and they're all retrofitted with the new Wii controls. I've got to get a copy of this!
I may be a little late to the party (Corruption originally came out about two years ago) but I'm loving the experience just the same.

Ooh...I've never played Metroid anything at all, but have been thinking more and more about it these last two weeks.
I downloaded the demo of Bioshock the other day and immediately I said "I WANT this game". Got it used for 18 bucks at Gamestop. Ah...sweet gaming. I love it so.

Picked up Henry Hatsworth for the DS last week. Excellent blend of platforming and puzzle - the baddies you kill reappear in a tetris-style game on the touch screen, and if you don't eliminate their blocks, they return to the platforming part of the game and make life that much harder for you. And let's just say Tea Time has never been this fun...

Is Henry Hatsworth available on other consoles?

No, Henry Hatsworth is a DS exclusive. Sorry. I haven't played it, though it looks kind of fun. Not sure how I'd like switching from platforming to puzzling so often, and the (admittedly brief) demo I saw made it look fairly simple, so I haven't been running out to get it. Could just be an early level, though. Does anybody here give the platforming/battling element a hearty recommendation?
I don't have a Wii yet, but I really want Metroid Prime 3. I love the first two on the Gamecube, even if they went a little overboard in terms of bactracking (especially the second one, with it's light/dark versions of every world and room); the gameplay was so solid I just love it. I'll definitely pick up the newly released Metroid Prime Trilogy, though, which has taken the first two games and updated them to support the Wii controller, since it had been so universally decided that, as PoolMan says, it blows the original controls out of the water. Oh, and the 2D Metroids are super awesome too, as long as the subject is raised.
Mostly, I've been playing Dissidia: Final Fantasy lately, while dabbling in Scribblenauts. The latter is a better toy than game from my experience with it. It's kind of a drag try and flip five switches while making the main character flail about (bad controls for him) or coming up with 4 different snacks for some hungry kid to get gold in the level. It's more fun to tame a dragon and ride it into battle against Dracula and his horde of ghouls while wielding a flaming sword. Or just drop a meteor from the sky and wipe everything out. At this point, I'm wishing I'd gone for the new Mario & Luigi RPG and waited on Scribblenauts. It is fun in bursts, though.
