really, you don't even have to ask.
the video is indicative of our declining moral values, and combined with the song really illustrates how there's no respect for anyone or anything in our modern (youth) culture.
but who cares about that?
it's all AWESOME!
for some reason, they posted the spanish version on itunes, so i bought that one first unknowingly (i later bought the u.s. version). it's a blast, people! and the only thing i have to say about the exceptional video is: fishnets.
hooray!

Dear Avril: please stop acting. You're not very good at it.
But, I really like this song. A ridiculous, stupid amount. A "listen to it with headphones" way. And I want to have her hair.

regarding avril's acting: i still need to see 'fast food nation' for her undoubtedly small yet pivotal role, but my video store's lone copy was checked out already. dang it!

I like the song... it's catchy in a "Hey Micky, you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind" kind of ripoffy way. But I like it.
The video's kinda... meh.

i think anyone who doesn't like this song simply hasn't listened to it long enough, and understood the intricate nuances and innuendos inherent in the lyrics.
it really is absolutely brilliant. i mean, it's up there with the josie songs on the 'josie & the pussycats' album, 'one' by u2, and all of 'sgt. pepper's lonely hearts club band' except for george harrison's weird "within you without you."
FANTASTIC! highly recommended for friends and family and to bring up complicated relationship discussions with loved ones.

As I recently wrote a friend:
After careful analysis I have decided that not only has Avril written a pop masterpiece combining the influences of Joan Jett and Toni Basil-- but has also created the single-female, power anthem of the new millennium.
Rock on Avril, rock on.

"the single-female, power anthem of the new millennium"
really? that's exciting!
being dumb (let's be honest here) i tend NOT to understand the driving motivations behind a large group adopting a song as their anthem.
and in this case, it seems like if one followed avril's advice/code, you'd just be constantly breaking up other couples to steal the boyfriend, then wringing all the enjoyment you could out of your ethereal time together before the next single avril-empowered woman breaks the two of you up, and you're forced to start again.
it sounds like an ouroboros type of thing, with a heavy dose of the zombie infection from 'dawn of the dead' thrown in.
AND I LIKE IT.

UPDATE: having made a couple new mixes for the store, this song gets a LOT of rotation.
i used it for the first time on the big thursday night redlands market night crowd, and it went over really well! even the loud profanity near the beginning of the song was laughed off (usually parents who come in, admittedly to us playing hardcore rap and/or weird fringe bands who have a limited vocabulary of only profanity, look at us all weird and in a judgmental way when our speakers are blaring out f-bombs and the like) and some people even asked who it was!
of course, when i told them, they were like "ewww." poor avril.
it's the same thing when i play her live covers of 'knockin' on heaven's door' or green day's 'basketcase.' people are lovin' but then when they find out who it is, they're like "OH MY GOSH you tricked me!"
stupid societal concerns!

Wait...she has good live recordings? Ha ha ha, she is notorious for being a horrible live singer. I have got to hear this.

I do like this song...But why is she pretending to play the guitar AGAIN? We all know she can't.
