First of all, may I say that, "Uwe Boll is like a flaming train wreck plowing into an orphanage while spewing toxic chemicals all over puppy & kitty farms on the way..." made me cough donut crumbs all over my shiny new work computer? The spatter effect over a 17" screen is nothing short of spectacular. When I stop laughing, I'll clean it up.
Now a tiny nitpick. Reins are for steering. Reigns are what kings and queens do to countries. In context (and I may be wrong), I've always thought it should be "directorial reins". It's one of those equine related quibbles I've always harbored. Like spelling it "whoa" instead of "woah".
In any case, well done!!! Started my day off with a smile. See? -----> ;D

Er... that's weird. I thought I DID change it to "reins". I even looked it up to make sure I was using the correct version. Huh.
Sorry 'bout your monitor. I did have a lot of fun looking up pictures for these directors!

Oh, and I wrote "poorly-spelling" instead of "poorly-spelled". The grammar police will be beating down my door in an ironic fashion soon!
I'm really wondering if I'm developing a mild case of dyslexia.

"Whoa" is the correct version. I might not have made that clear. The pictures were luvverly. Uwe Boll particularly. (I wish you'd pointed out which guy was Lloyd Kaufman though.) Lucas in his cameo costume would have been a nice touch too. No complaints though. That might just be my favorite Dirty Half Dozen yet.

This is probably why I don't really have that much to say anymore. Since Sue joined the staff, it seems like there's not enough errors (or any for that matter) to keep me busy. Damn you Sue, damn you to Uwe Boll's private studio!!!!!

I will, somehow, find a way to work "nipple-twisted pseudo-science" into a conversation. Yes I will.
Great Dirty Half-Dozen, Justin!

I, too, enjoyed it, and Gregg Araki should be thanking his lucky stars he didn't make the list! (Of course, the lack of material helps.)

You know that was a compliment, right Sue?

This is a good reminder of why I'm not that big of an action or sci-fi fan. I avoid these schlockmeisters on a regular basis. I've caught a few on cable with various male relatives. "The Patriot" was just too much (I'll wave the flag as much as the next girl...but burning a church full of people?) and "Godzilla" was a flaming train wreck in the worst sense of the phrase. (And what's worse, my kid brother LOVED it when it came out. Must have been an eight-year-old thing.)
I am, however, a huge fan of "Star Wars"...and I completely agree with you about George Lucas. The man can tell a good story, but he can't direct actors to save his life. There's a reason my favorite movie of the six, "The Empire Strikes Back," was directed by someone else. (He also knows absolutely nothing about romantic dialogue, either, another reason I prefer "Empire".) He should have stuck to producing.

I wrestled with putting Lucas on there, actually. Undoubtably there ARE worst directors, but most of the other ones I thought of had either too small of a volume of work (Eli Roth), or had enough good hits (Schumacher, Anderson) to make it hard to stick.

I really think Araki should have been on, but I really dont think Eli Roth should have even been considered. He makes great suspenseful horror films, that are funny and terrifying. He is the reason i haven't given up on horror.

The man makes hateful, spiteful movies and is one of the leading captains of the resurgence of torture porn. He's not a good director of movies, just simulated snuff films.

*snurfle* ...maybe. *sniff* The man makes hateful, spiteful movies and is one of the leading captains of the resurgence of torture porn. He's not a good director of movies, just simulated snuff films. Oh, stop prevaricating, Justin! Just say what you mean.
