We didn't read it, but we were playing a Christmas quiz game, and one of the questions asked was about who wrote A Visit From St. Nicholas. Therefore I naturally went from "not knowing it" to "knowing it", sans cheating.

Clemmet (or Clemett) C. Moore. The original title was "A Visit From St. Nicholas". One letter off, but since it's Christmas, I'll let it pass. The author was Clement Clark Moore and your bonus answer is correct as well. Up to you now, Oogieboogieman.

Thank you, Sue.
Hmmmm...i have some questions being kicked around in my headspace, but i'm not sure what can be defined as "hard" and "Way too hard".
Ok, I guess I'll go with what my first idea was:
Test some of you rock buffs/metalheads. What is the track listing for Black Sabbath's album, Paranoid, in proper order? I'll give you a hint...there are 8 tracks.
I don't know how difficult this will be for you people, so I'll probably give more hints, depending on what the feedback (or lack thereof) is like. Best of luck.

Yikes.
Actually, as I think about it, I know the first four. I'm stumped on the rest, though.

Ok, it's been almost 24 hours without even a guess, so here's another clue:
The last track of the album is Fairies Wear Boots.
I hope that helps ;D.

Wow. I guess I figured out what this question can be defined as . I'm not sure how much this will help you, but I came up with a list of some artists/bands that covered the songs on this album, in the same order as the originals appear on the album. I was pretty bored a while ago, so maybe this can kill the second bird on the one stone: 1. Faith No More 2. Megadeth 3. Pantera 4. Busta Rhymes 5. Iced Earth 6. Slayer 7. (sorry, couldn't find a band that covered this one) 8. (doesn't matter, cause you already know track 8)

Alright, it's Day 3 (4 if you include the day I posted the question) and nary a venture, so I guess I'll post the answer and make a new question.
The answer is: 1) War Pigs 2) Paranoid 3) Planet Caravan 4) Iron Man 5) Electric Funeral 6) Hand of Doom 7) Rat Salad 8) Fairies Wear Boots
Ok, lets change the focus from music to TV. In Seinfeld, what is George Costanza's middle name? For bonus points, what is Elaine's middle name?

I guess this question is impossible if you haven't read the books or involved yourself in the mythology.
Hint: D.D., B.B., W, R, C.B.

Okay, let's try a somewhat easier one. Bringing things back to the mainstream music world, what popular group originally went by the name "Tabitha's Secret"?
(And for bonus points, tell us two of the band names REM originally considered.)

If I'm correct, then my question is as follows: What popular group originally went by the name "Public Affection"? (edit - changed my question to make it a little bit easier)
