I've never seen a single Bond movie, & I lack any genuine interest in espionage flicks.

As a child of the 80s, I'm about to commit social suicide...
I've never seen E.T.
Honestly, it's not as though I avoided it. But we never rented it, and almost none of my friends had it. One did, but he never wanted to watch it. And I know it's weird, but I have never ever once in the wide world seen it on TV. Just hasn't happened. In fact, at this point in time, I know no one who has it in their home, and nobody that speaks of the movie with any frequency. It was only relatively recently that it even occurred to me that I hadn't seen it, because I hadn't thought or heard of the movie in a good decade.
I also sort of missed out on the Goonies fascination a lot of other people my age had. Before the lynch mob tries to string me up a second time, I HAVE seen it, and I liked what I saw. But I saw it in chunks, never all at once, and I think I was too old to really get the nostalgia others had (I think it was just before high school when I did catch it).
The worst part is that VERY occasionally someone will make a reference to it, and I won't catch it, and they'll treat me like a heretic. I hope that doesn't happen here.

*Ducks swiftly, closing the lid on his underground bunker* *Lifts the lid and peers inside.* s'alright. I have seen ET in English and Spanish, thanks to Spanish class. I never really cared for it all that much. It's a touching movie to be sure, but I was never crazy over it. Same with the Goonies. Now when I was a kid I was all over me some Goonies action. I own the movie and I love remembering the excitement I used to get as a kid watching them go through all those trials and then finding the treasure on the pirate ship. BUT it isn't a movie I watch over and over and I never really bring it up. My husband and I have been known to yell an occasional sing-songy "Heeeey you guuyyyyyyssss!"

My older sister is absolutely insane over them (the old ones at least) and so I've watched almost all those pre-Pierce ones. It's only because of Rifftrax that I've seen Casino Royale. Rosie Carver's death scene in Live and Let Die creeped me out as a child. Those dart-shooting dummies in the forest haunted my nightmares for a long time. Thanks, sis!

I've mocked you in this thread and gotten away with it. But now it's my turn to be brave: I've never seen any Evil Dead. Until today. Yup.
Godfather, E.T. ... doesn't seem like such a big deal now, does it? But at least I know Bond. *snicker*
So, ED2. The reviews didn't promise too much. Clare, I'M ALIVE!!!

What determines a classic is really relative and you shouldn't feel bad if you haven't seen anything that other people call "classic". But that's why this site is here, right? To celebrate all the movies that no one notices because everyone else is too busy celebrating the "classics". Since we're fessing up however, I will say I've never seen the original Star Wars trilogy all the way through. Some people might call a bad thing.

Maybe penguin just hasn't watched the credits all the way through. But seriously, penguin, you're right. If we forced ourselves to watch the same canon, that would be sad and quite boring. Not liking or not watching some movies may not be a noble end in itself, but it is a consequence of individual taste and circumstances, respecting which is another remarkable aspect of this site. (I just made up grammar there, didn't I?

I've not seen many of classics and cult movies;
A Fist Full of Dollars Dirty Harry Death Wish Assault on Precinct 13 Escape From New York Citizen Kane The Godfather Taxi Driver Raging Bull Scarface Serpico Tombstone
Heck, I've never seen 2001 all the way through. I've seen all of it, at different times, but I usually fall asleep during a single sitting.
...
And yet I've seen Soldier... how does that happen?
