To our dear Forum Readers,
Justin and I figure that because the Forum is jam-packed with our regular readers, the top of the MRFH Elite, this would be the best place to initially drop the news that we have taken on one more Mutant Reviewer From Hell.
First, let me say that it is with some sadness that we bid a much earlier-than-intended adieu to Bobby, our California Queen. While we never doubted her style, humour, or ability, it seems this darned "real life" has gotten ahold of her too, and she's largely dropped out of view of the MRFH due to a schedule that doesn't seem to grant her much time to contribute. You may have noticed there haven't been any Bobby reviews up in some time, and unfortunately, we have to give her chance to someone else. We still want her around, and we're hoping she'll turn up in the Forum to say hello sometime soon.
Now, before the angry string of flames/emails/burning pugs begins, let me explain why we're not going through another round of applications to determine a replacement, because the choice is already made. First of all, as much as we actually enjoyed it last time around (the contributions were fantastic), it's a TON of work for me and Justin. Lots of it. The process took us a month last time around (and I had file folders dedicated to it. FILE FOLDERS!), and that's not even a half a year ago, so we weren't keen to dedicate that much time to it again. But more to the point, in that last round of applications, as much as we enjoyed everyone's input and reviews, there was one clear runner-up.
Believe me when I say, Justin and I went back and forth for a long time (including nearly an hour on the phone) debating between (ironically enough) Bobby and this other person. It was VERY close, and it could have gone either way. This person was not aware of this until now, as we didn't think it was at all fair to tell them that they missed it by just this much, and not give it to them. J and I agreed at the time that this person would be our "backup" in the future, if ever the need arose. This is not to say their input was of lower quality, but rather, high enough that it was agonizing to us to even think of making them wait.
So, without any further ado, I bid welcome to the newest Mutant Reviewer, from right here in the Forum, Lissa!
Lissa has a gift with words that we've enjoyed about as long as we've had the Forum up and running, and is a strong part of the Forum presence. She's got a great sense of humour, and an overwhelming love of cheesecake. We couldn't think of any better set of qualities. We're all very excited here at MRFH HQ, and would like to offer our congratulations to Lissa on the position.
(Plus, we maintain that delicate boy/girl balance required for the Mutants to repopulate the earth in case of nuclear holocaust, despite the fact that Clare has told us we can drop dead if we even think about it )
The "official" announcement will hit the front page later this week after I've had a chance to whip up a banner graphic and Justin can prepare the Bio page. At that point, we'll have Lissa's first review on hand.
In the words of our favourite Klingon: "It will be glorious!". Congratulations, Lissa!
