slowly regaining some semblance of a life as school work begins to peter off.
(I try to ignore the fact that I would've finished classes about a month ago if it weren't for a strike...ignore ignore ignore).

I went to LeakyCon, a Harry Potter fan conference, this weekend. It was beyond incredible! ;D ;D Article to come soon. Also, today I'm getting a life-altering surgery. I have tracheal stenosis, which means that because of a narrowing in my windpipe, I can't breathe as easily as I should be able to. When I caught the flu last year, the naarrowing inflamed itself to the point where I've lost about 60% of my breathing capacity. Today, I'm finally getting laser surgery to fix it! It's been a darn good week.

A) *LeakyCon* is the best name someone could come up with for an HP con? Really? (yes, I get it, but still!)
B) Hooray for your laser surgery!

It was hosted by The-Leaky-Cauldron.org, and WB had nothing to do with it, so I guess legally they can't call it PotterCon or HogwartsCon or anything like that. All the HP cons have weird names. Last year was Terminus, next year is Infinitus, and this July HPEF is hosting Azkatraz (which makes some sense since it's in San Francisco, but it's still pretty weird.)

Woot! Happiness is, exactly three weeks to the day after being laid off (see: Misery is... thread), getting called by your former company's HR department and asked to return to your old job. Not the biggest ego-boost I've ever had, since it was due to someone else resigning and them literally not having enough manpower to do all the work, but at least I was the first choice of all the people laid off. Hey, I'll take it.

Happiness in my house is a 21 month old with a newfound love of pirates!

...realizing that a friendship that you've had for a long, long time has grown and deepened to the point that when I say he's my brother, I'm NOT kidding.

Having your baby look at you and then break into a huuuuuuuge smile. I could live off that stuff.

Taking your nephew on his first big roller coaster.
"I can't feel my stomach!" "But was it fun?" "...Yeah!"
